ARTICLE III – THE TEACHER AND THE COMMUNITY

Section 1. A teacher is a facilitator of learning and of the development of the youth:
he shall, therefore, render the best service by providing an environment conducive to
such learning and growth.
So let’s proceed to the first word
*facilitate
- In section 1, the main role of the teacher is to become the facilitator of learning. It
means that they are to give all the lessons to the students and it's up to them to learn
it and relate to the class but the real role of facilitator is to provide activities which
are meta-cognitive in nature. So what are those meta-cognitive strategies? All those
which fall under the constructivist perspective, example discovery method library for
science majors, and problem solving for mathematics majors. When we say
facilitators, we guide all our students in every step of the way towards learning. So
ano nga ba ang ibig sabihin ng to facilitate? It means to make a task easier, so as a
teacher as a professional teacher, it is your job to make your lesson interesting.
Alam naman natin na sobrang hirap ng learning process, napakahirap matuto lalo na
kung hindi natin masyadong na absorb. So as a teacher, kailangan nating ipa absorb
sa kanila ang mga tinuturo natin. We are responsible kung anong steps or kung
anong strategies ang iaapply natin sa kanila para lang matuto ang mga estudyante
natin. As a teacher it is the most ethical thing for you to do para magkaroon tayo ng
learning na masaya at interesting. So ang nangyayari kasi minsan meron mga
teacher na imbis padaliin yung mga lesson ay mas lalo nilang pinapahirapan ang
topic which is i think it is not the good thing to do para matuto ang mga estudyante.
*conducive environment
- And to facilitate learning naman ay we need to ensure that our environment is
conducive for the learning process like the classroom management and that's the
role of a teacher as facilitator of learning. And it is proven and tested na, na kapag
maganda ang environment for the learning to take place, mas mapapadaling matuto
ang mga estudyante. So what does it mean to have a pleasant or conducive
environment? It means hindi lang siya well ventilated or magandang tignan
physically but it’s about kung ano yung overall scenario doon sa classroom which is
kunwari [ Lahat ng estudyante mo ay hindi natatakot magtanong sa’yo kasi
binibigyan mo sila ng time and effort na masagot yung mga tanong nila sa’yo ]
and at the same time it is conducive environment kung walang bullying na
nagaganap sa isang classroom. Siyempre kapag may nangyayareng ganoon sa
classroom, yung isang student na nabubully is ang tendency niya ay matulog na
lang, huwag nang pumasok at matakot sa mga kaklase niya kasi hindi niya
nararamdaman na peaceful yung learning environment. Which is kung maipapakita
lang natin sa mga estudyante natin na it is very conducive or very friendly yung ating
classroom, I think mas mapapadali yung kanilang learning process.
Section 2. Every teacher shall provide leadership and initiative to actively participate
in community movements for moral, social, educational, economic and civic
betterment.
- So sinasabi ng mga ibang tao dito sa pilipinas, ang mga teacher daw ay heart of the
community kasi bilang teacher ay expect mo na, na hindi talaga maaalis yung sarili
mo sa community. You have to participate in the community or the activities in the
community.
- So mag focus tayo sa dalawang word na ito which is LEADERSHIP and INITIATIVE.
You are an intellectual leader of the community whether a prayer meeting pwede ka
namang sumama doon, pwede kang sumama sa clean up drive immunizations or
kahit elections diba. Teachers ang mga tumutulong during elections diba, sa pag
aayos ng mga balota. And the second one is initiative, which means ay hindi na natin
kailangang mag pa VIP pa sa community. Kunwari may fiesta sa community niyo na
pinagtuturuan mo, imbis na mag-utos ka pa sa iba na maglagay ng banderitas, bakit
hindi ka na lang magkusa na kayo na mismo ng mga estudyante mo or co-teachers
mo para at least meron ka ng participation doon sa community kung saan ka
nagtuturo. And some instances, meron din tayong ibang mga teachers na
naiimbitahan sa mga pageant or mga programs para maging judge sa beauty
pageant o kaya emcee sa mga program. So ang gagawin natin kapag once na na-
invite tayo sa ganito ay kailangan nating i-accept, hindi yung mag papabebe pa tayo
na “ay ayoko hindi naman ako magaling sa ganiyan” hindi pwedeng ganiyan ka
sumagot, so as a teacher dapat meron kang good relationship sa community.
- Teachers should act as community leaders when we need section 3.

Section 3. Every teacher shall merit reasonable social recognition for which purpose
he shall behave with honor and dignity at all times and refrain for such activities as
gambling, smoking, drunkenness, and other excesses, much less illicit relations.
- So you are a professional teacher at alam naman natin na ang most criticized
professionals ay mga teachers. Bilang isang ganap na guro, you have to live your life
with honor and dignity. So what does it means? As a teacher hindi ka pwedeng
makita ng mga estudyante mo na naglalakad na pasiga siga na may hawak na
sigarilyo sa public face na yan at lalong hindi ka pwedeng makita ng mga estudyante
mo na nakikipag inuman sa mga taong tambay diyan sa labas at hindi ka rin
pwedeng makitang nagsusugal or nakikipag tong-its or majong diyan or kahit ano
basta gambling dahil hindi pwede yon as a teacher. Kasi you are example, you have
to be a role model for your students, how can you be a role model for your students
kung makikita ka nilang umiinom diyan, nagsusugal or naninigarilyo so hindi pwede
yon ha. Society expects too much for you as a teacher kasi sa atin ipinagkakatiwala
ng mga magulang ng mga bata nag kinabukasan nila.
- It is stated that every teacher is recognized in the society as someone who has the
highest integrity. As for that, teachers should behave with dignity at all times. This
means you have to draw all the vices that you have as you have to appear dignified
at all times even if you are not inside the classroom that everywhere you go since
you are a teacher and someone might recognize you. You have behaved with
integrity at all times.
