Safety District concept and
Accountability

• Safety Districts are clearly defined areas on the site.

• Head of the safety district is the Team Leader who has his
main activities concentrated in that district.

Entire HPL is divided into 17 Safety Districts for better Safety


Management.
The Accident

An unplanned, unexpected event that interferes with or


interrupts normal activity & potentially leads to personal
injury or equipment damage.
The Near Miss
1.Also know as a “Near Hit”

2.An accident that does not quite


result in injury or damage (but
could have).

3.Remember, a near-miss is just as


serious as an accident!

1. Switch off the mobile in ISBL areas.


2. Observe speed limit (30 km/h maximum) on site .
3. Good Housekeeping leads to safety.
4. Keep access to fire fighting equipment free.
5. Wash with copious amount of water ( Safety shower) in
case of acid/ caustic/ chemical spills or burns.

Emergency

Familiarize with
• Nearest safety shower/ eye wash fountain
• Nearest fire extinguisher (training). Inform fire
department after usage of extinguishers.
• Nearest Manual Call Point (MCP)
• Location of Occupational Health (Medical) center OHC
• Location of Fire Station
• Nearest talk-back station
• Means Of Escape (MOE) in case of emergency

Emergency alarm

• Stop vehicles on the left side of the road slowly.


Shutdown the engine
• Stay near MCP after actuation till the arrival of first
responders without jeopardizing personal safety.
• Gas leak - isolate source, without jeopardizing
personal safety. Stay upwind. Inform supervisor.
