Introduction
• Include the four W’s:
– Who you are
– What field you are in
– What makes you different from others
– What benefits you offer to others
When describing your
accomplishments
Describe or tell a “story”:

– P – The PROBLEM or SITUATION you faced

– A – The ACTIONS you took

– R – The positive RESULTS of these actions!


Practice
• Practicing what you’re going to say.
• Role-play the interview.
Present

• Dress the way you expect the interviewer to dress.


Be clean, neat and well groomed.

• When you meet the interviewer
– smile, introduce yourself and shake hands firmly. Stay
standing until you’re offered a chair.
• Except when you're making a point
– keep your hands still in your lap or on the arms of your
chair. Don’t cross your arms.
• Make eye contact.
Participate
• Listen closely to the questions so you can answer
them accurately.

• Stay on topic and be pleasant, sincere and direct.

• Avoid answering with only “yes” or “no.”

• Follow up after the interview.

• Be Alert and confident.

last impression.”
• Don’t gabble – speak softly slowly and clearly.
• Establishing rapport.
• Non –verbal signs.
• Do pay attention to your scent.
• Do make sure your hair is in place and conservative.
Some Tips
• Say if you don’t know the answer.
• Don’t inspect or read documents on the recruiter’s
desk.
• Don’t talk about the salary until later in the hiring
process or until the recruiter brings it up.
• Do ask the interviewer when you will hear from him
or her again if he or she does not offer the
information.
