"Should There be a Ban on Smoking in Public Places?

"

Have you ever been in a smoking-related situation? Especially when they're right next
to you? That bothers me a little, though.
I believe that smoking in public places should be prohibited since it is bad for everyone,
especially if you suddenly inhale smoke or if your surroundings are covered with cigarette ash.

I grew up with my sister and some of my friends who have asthma, and it's a struggle
for us to go to public places without a "smoker". For example, we are going to watch basketball,
eat outside, or even just go for a walk with my dog; whenever we are with a smoker. we can't
focus on what we are doing. Since it’s distracting because of the smoke I can say that other
smokers are ill-mannered. In the past, I encountered a situation where I was with my dog to buy
something at the sari-sari store and then suddenly that "smoker" blew the smoke into my dog's
face and at that moment I was really mad but I was holding myself not to shout because it was
an old man. Another reason is that prohibiting public smoking can benefit not only us but also
smokers, who can become addicted to nicotine, which alters the balance of two chemicals in
your brain and is difficult to quit. Next, being a secondhand smoker is not easy because damage
from secondhand smoke occurs in as little as five minutes.
In conclusion, avoiding it would not be enough and you really need to find another way
to get rid of this kind of problem. It has more impact on us "secondhand smokers" than the
smokers because the risk is high if you catch a disease from the smoker. Banning public
smokers is the best way for everyone since public smoking bans seem to be helpful in reducing
heart attacks and, theoretically, it might also help to prevent lung cancer and asthma, diseases
that develop much more slowly than heart attacks. The cardiac benefits increased as the ban
was extended.
