Basic qualitative methods lab #2

1. For the University neighbourhood pHQ2013 overall exterior house quality percentages,

the maximum number on the Y-axis is 232 houses. While, the minimum number on the Y-

axis is zero houses regarding the height of the bars. According to our statistics box, the

maximum percentage on the X-axis is 100% while the minimum percentage is (-71)%. The

class width along the X-axis was modified to be 10%.

2. ((232+81)=313)/785=0.4

The probability of a pHQ2013 house in the University neighbourhood having an overall

exterior housing quality percentage within the normal range of greater than or equal to (-

10)% and less than 10% is o.4 or 40% or more than one-third according to our calculations.

((1+3+12+37+81+171)=305)/785=0.39

The pHQ2013 overall exterior housing quality percentage "below the normal range" is 0.36

or 36% or more than one-third

3. ((81*0.7)+171+232+81+56+(29*0.5)=611)/785=0.78

The probability that a house in the pHQ2013 overall exterior housing quality percentage

that is greater than or equal to (-27)% and less than 25% is 0.78 or 78% or slightly more

than three-quarters of data within our range of interest.

4. Out of the 804 University neighbourhood houses of pHQ2006 we have a mean

percentage of (-0.66)% while 785 of the pHQ2013 University neighbourhood houses with a

mean of (-1.10)% as located in the statistics box. Both mean percentages are in the range

of (-10)% to 10% and are very close in percentage to each other with only a 0.5%

difference. There is no observable deterioration or improvement in typical overall exterior

housing quality in a university neighbourhood from the year 2006 to the year of 2013

5. The pHQ2006 University neighbourhood houses median percentage of (-7.1)% while

785 houses median of pHQ2013 percentage was (-5.6)%. Both median percentages are

within our normal range of (-10)% to 10% and are similar to each other with only a 1.5%

difference. No observable deterioration or Improvement in typical overall exterior housing

quality in the University neighbourhood from 2006 to 2013.

6. The modal class of pHQ2013 for University neighbourhood houses is the class of -10% to

0% with 233 observed houses. Furthermore, for the modal class of pHQ2006 for University

neighbourhood houses in the same bar from negative 10% to 0% with 204 observed houses.

Both modal classes are within the normal range since they both are in the (-10)% to 0% bar.

There is no observable difference in typical overall exterior housing quality from 2006 to

2013.
