ORIENTATION ON THE INDIGENOUS PEPOPLES EDUCATION PROGRAM

FOR TEACHERS AND SCHOOL HEADS ASSIGNED IN SCHOOLS IMPLEMENTING
THE IPED PROGRAM- COIURSE I

NARRATIVE REPORT

The orientation on IPED education was conducted in December 27 until December 29, 2022
at Hotel Ariana, Paringao, Bauang, La Union with the tagline,”Walang Bibitiw, Sama-sama, Tulong-
tulong sa Pagsulong ng Katutubong Edukasyon”.

There were three main IP groups that were chosen as the focus of the orientation. These are
the Ibalois, Bago and kankanaey tribes. School heads and assigned IPED focal persons were the
attendees of the said program from several participating schools from the districts of Pudo, bagulin,
Bacnotan, Sudipen, Santiol, Naguillan and Balaoan.

During the foundations of IPED program were discussed by Dr. German E. Flora, the CID
Chief followed by the IP Situationer as delivered and facilitated by Dr. elvie G. Coytop, Mrs. Noemi B.
Culbengan, and Mrs. Karen J. Feliciano.

On the second day, the IKSPs, ILs and culture was discussed and facilitated by Mrs. Marissa
Antolin, and Mrs. Carmelita A. Fajardo.

The third day were done with discussions on The phillipine Education System and IP
Communities by Dr. Rosalie D. Bestre and Dr. Marianita Pang-ot.

Many learnings and insights were shared during the three-day orientation for course 1 of
IPED.

The participants were are participative and organized, as well as, the facilitators were very
competent in their assigned topics.

Course 2 shall be held early this year for IPED.

This program became meaningful because of the initiatives of our DEPED mentors headed by
Dr. Mario Paneda, EPS of Araling Panlipunan.
