Milky Way
i) a moderately large spiral galaxy.
ii) the Milky Way consists of about 200 billion stars
iii) our solar system is on the edge of one of the spiral branches of
the Milky Way

Nebula -a large cloud composed of dust and gases

i) the gas and dust particles of the nebula are attracted by the
gravitational pull and form a clump
ii) due to the gravitational pull of the gas clump shrinks and
compresses until it becomes very dense and forms a core
iii) the core is narrowed and dense
iv) the temperature and pressure in the core become high, a nuclear
reaction will take place. Hydrogen gas is converted to helium
v) the core shines and a star is born
vi) known as a young star
vii) young stars will continue to develop into two possible physical
features (medium -sized stars, large stars).

Red monster - a lot of heat generated by the outermost layer of
the star, causing the hydrogen in that layer to burn and the star to
expand.
Black hole - space in outer space that has a very strong
gravitational field.
i) If the red monster is very large, the star will start to shrink
rapidly and produce a large explosion (supernova).
ii) supernovae are very bright and can be seen during the day
iii) if the size of the star is very large then the supernova explosion
will form a black hole.

1) color
2) temperature
3) size
4) brightness
5) distance
