Jerome Polin yang bernama asli Jerome Polin Sijabat lahir di Surabaya pada 2 Mei 1998.

saat ini berusia 23 tahun. Meski mahir berbahasa Jepang, ia berkebangsaan Indonesia. Jerome Polin
lahir dari pasangan orang tua bernama Marojahan Sijabat dan Chrissie. Di dalam keluarga, Jerome Polin
memiliki 2 saudara kandung yaitu seorang kakak laki-laki bernama Jehian Panangian Sijabat dan seorang
adik laki-laki bernama Jesferrel Porman Sijabat. Rumah Jerome Polin berada di kota Surabaya.

Jerome has been fond of playing music since childhood. He likes to play musical instruments such as
guitar, piano, and drums. His hobby started from his habit of being a musical accompaniment at church
services. Jerome is also good at singing. Jerome Polin is currently pursuing higher education with a major
in applied mathematics at Waseda University, Japan. Apart from being a student in Japan, Jerome likes
to make educational YouTube videos such as learning Japanese and introducing Japanese culture. Not
only that, it is not uncommon for Jerome to record his daily activities in Japan as an overseas student.

Although he finally learned mathematics, it turned out that little Jerome did not like mathematics.
However, one day his mind changed when Chrissie's mother gave Jerome an analogy that mathematics
is like a pirate game. When you can crack the code then you can get the treasure. From there, Jerome
Polin's view of mathematics changed and he became more and more fond of it until he was involved in
the undergraduate level of education.

Since childhood, Jerome Polin has aspired to study abroad. He often heard his friends talk about their
vacations abroad when he was a child. He realized that Jerome Polin's father's job did not allow him to
take his family on trips abroad. He also realized that he was born into a simple family, different from his
friends. Therefore, in order to realize his dream of being able to study abroad, Jerome Polin since the
beginning of the first grade of high school has prepared and made plans to be able to take part in the
Olympics and become an outstanding student.

Sejak kecil, Jerome Polin telah bercita-cita untuk belajar di luar negeri. Dia sering mendengar teman-
temannya berbicara tentang liburan mereka ke luar negeri ketika dia masih kecil. Ia menyadari bahwa
pekerjaan ayah Jerome Polin tidak memungkinkan membawa keluarganya jalan-jalan ke luar negeri. Ia
pun menyadari bahwa dirinya terlahir dari keluarga yang sederhana, berbeda dengan teman-temannya.
Oleh karena itu, demi mewujudkan mimpinya untuk bisa kuliah di luar negeri, Jerome Polin sejak awal
kelas satu SMA telah menyusun dan membuat rencana untuk bisa mengikuti olimpiade dan menjadi
siswa berprestasi.

Jerome's academic achievements include winning the 14th Japanese Speech Content event, the
Suginami Association. He has also won the 2016 ITS Industrial Engineering National Olympiad, 1st Place
in Surabaya City Level Outstanding Student Competition, 3rd Place in 2014 Mathematics Olympiad, 14th
Place in Japanese Speech Contest, and 1st Place in 2015 National Vector Mathematics Olympiad at
Malang University.

Prestasi akademik Jerome termasuk memenangkan acara Isi Pidato Jepang ke-14, Asosiasi Suginami. Ia
juga pernah menjuarai Olimpiade Nasional Teknik Industri ITS 2016, Juara 1 Lomba Mahasiswa
Berprestasi Tingkat Kota Surabaya, Juara 3 Olimpiade Matematika 2014, Juara 14 Lomba Pidato Bahasa
Jepang, dan Juara 1 Olimpiade Matematika Vektor Nasional 2015 Negeri Malang Universitas.

Prior to studying at Waseda University Japan, Jerome Polin had taken a scholarship test at NTU
Singapore. Unfortunately, the test results stated that Jerome could only get 50% of the scholarship and
50% had to be paid for himself. Because of that, finally Jerome was forced to give up his intention and
opportunity to study in Singapore. However, the failure to get a full scholarship in Singapore did not
necessarily make Jerome give up. This actually sparked his enthusiasm to get scholarships at other
universities. At that time, Jerome tried to enroll at Waseda University majoring in Applied Mathematics
by applying for a full scholarship from Mitsui Bussan. And sure enough, thanks to his passion and
persistence, he was successfully accepted to study in Japan in 2016 until now. Jerome Polin is one of two
people selected for a full scholarship to study at Waseda University, Japan majoring in Applied
Mathematics.

Sebelum kuliah di Waseda University Jepang, Jerome Polin pernah mengikuti tes beasiswa di NTU
Singapore. Sayangnya, hasil tes menyatakan bahwa Jerome hanya bisa mendapatkan 50% dari beasiswa
dan 50% harus dibayar sendiri. Karena itu, akhirnya Jerome terpaksa merelakan niat dan kesempatannya
untuk kuliah di Singapura. Namun, kegagalan mendapatkan beasiswa penuh di Singapura tak lantas
membuat Jerome menyerah. Hal ini justru memicu semangatnya untuk mendapatkan beasiswa di
universitas lain. Saat itu, Jerome mencoba mendaftar di Universitas Waseda jurusan Matematika
Terapan dengan mengajukan beasiswa penuh dari Mitsui Bussan. Dan benar saja, berkat semangat dan
kegigihannya, ia berhasil diterima kuliah di Jepang pada tahun 2016 hingga sekarang. Jerome Polin
adalah satu dari dua orang yang terpilih untuk beasiswa penuh untuk belajar di Waseda University,
Jepang jurusan Matematika Terapan.
