I. Objective
At the end of the session, learners will be able to describe the characteristics, processes, and ethics of
research
Enabling objectives:
Specifically, learners shall be able to;
1. describe the characteristics, processes, and ethics of research
2. awaken the hearts of the class regarding the importance of the characteristics, processes and
ethics in research; and
3. demonstrate the characteristics, processes and ethics of research in a differentiated task

CHARACTERISTICS OF RESEARCH
Prieto, et.al. (2017) stated that the following are the major characteristics of research:
Prieto, et.al. (2017) also added that the following are involved in the Research Processes:
1. Identify the Research Problem & Related Literature: What is the problem? What evidence is already
presented?
2. Formulating Hypothesis & Designing the Study: How are we going to find/look for the answer to
questions being studied? Where will the study be shown and with what population?
3. Collecting and Organizing Data: Are we ready to gather the data? Where do we find the data?
4. Analyzing Data and Testing Hypothesis: How do the data answer the research queries?
5. Interpreting Data: What are the implications of the results?
6. Reporting of the Results
RESEARCH ETHICS
1.4 Application:
The students will be grouped into six (6) and each will be asked to demonstrate the characteristics, processes
and ethics of research. The following GRASPS will be the guide of the students in their presentation:
Your school is celebrating the International Research
Month. As part of the celebration, you are asked to be an
actor, artist, singer, broadcaster, and/ or a poet for the
success of the differentiated tasks to be delivered in front
of your schoolmates. This is to awaken the hearts of every
Filipino regarding the importance of the characteristics,
processes and ethics in research. Your task should exhibit
the relevance of the content, originality, creativity, and
team’s cooperation.

V. Assignment
Directions: Interview a grade 12 student and ask him/her the following questions:
1. What characteristic/s of research did you employ in your study?
2. Why are research ethics important in the process of data gathering?
3. Is your research successful? How did you conduct your study?
