TUGU MUDA

Tugu Muda is a monument made to commemorate the services of heroes who have died in the
Five Day Battle in Semarang. Tugu Muda is used for the spirit of struggle and patriotism of the
citizens of Semarang, young people who are steadfast, willing to sacrifice with a high spirit of
defending Indonesian Independence.
Tugu Muda is shaped like a candle which implies the fighting spirit of the fighters to defend
Indonesia's independence will never go out. Tugu Muda is a pentagon-shaped monument.
Consisting of 3 (three) parts, namely the foundation, body and head. Pasa side of the pillar is
relief. The entire monument is made of stone. To satisfy the impression of the tuginya, made a
decorative pond and garden around the monument.
To beautify Tugu Muda, a park was built that passed Tugu Muda. In this park there are some
decorations and young monuments that can be used as city parks, including fountains, white and
yellow lights that will add a graceful impression at night. In pine cones, 5 (five) different pieces
of pointed bamboo duplicate weapons stand in parallel. Five-day battle in Semarang armed with

At the foot of the monument there are reliefs with five pillars, which are usually used to protect
various kinds of reliefs, and also as a symbol of the Pancasila. In each buffer there are
decorations that are different from one another, namely:
 Hongerodeem assistance
Describing the lives of the Indonesian people in the Dutch colonial era and Japan who were very
oppressed and many who suffered from hunger, until Hongerodeem or hungry edema ran
rampant among the people.
 Battle Relief
Describing the great feeling of enthusiasm and courage of the youth of Semarang in maintaining
the freedom of their country and nation.
 Attack Relief
Symbolizing the resistance of the Indonesian people to the occupation to escape from the
shackles of colonialism.
 Victim Victims
Describe that in the Five Day Battle in Semarang, many people were victims.
 Victory assistance
Describe the results of the labor and sacrifices that have wet the earth of the city of Semarang.
