INTEGRATED DESIGN PROJECT

BMMU 3803 SEMESTER 1 SESI 2020/2021

PROJECT GUIDELINES

1.0 INTRODUCTION
This project is for BMMU 3803 students. As part of the subject requirements, the following
describes the details of the project. The project represents 80% of total coursework mark

2.0 OBJECTIVES
This project contains reverse engineering of mechanical devices and subjected to:
i. Design solution by synthesizing manufacturing engineering technology knowledge that will
solve broadly defined engineering technology problems in accordance with relevant
standards.
ii. Utilize modern engineering technology and IT tools in facilitating solutions to broadly-
defined engineering technology problems with an understanding of the limitations.
iii. Evaluate the impact of the design product, component, or processes in term of safety,
environmental and sustainability factors.

3.0 EXPECTED OUTCOMES

After completing this project the students should be able to:

✓ Problem solving based on nowadays world problem


✓ Generate idea based given problem
✓ Project management (Cost, Duration of project & Product development)
✓ Apply IOT & IR4.0 element in Problem solving
✓ Draw according to specified standard
✓ Draw complex shape using advance CAD software
✓ Communicate technically via engineering drawing & advance CAD software
✓ Use CATIA/Solidworks software skilfully and use it as a tool to translate and pictures
design ideas

4.0 SCOPE OF PROJECT


4.1 Grouping
This project has to be done in GROUP MAX of FIVE (5) students
4.2 Procedure
✓ Define the project and the object to drawn based given theme with team
members (as given) and discuss it with respective lecturer
✓ Discuss research and developments of the devices including their functions
✓ Provide solution and Design product based problem given
✓ Draw the device by using AutoCAD
✓ Development mini prototype
✓ Report writing and presentation

4.3 THEME PROJECT


“HELP DISABLED PERSON WITH INNOVATIVE TECH”
Develop biomechanical equipment/tools/apparatus for disabled
person
(MECHANICAL TOOLS ONLY AT LEAST 5 COMPONENT ASSEMBLY)
✓ Each Group require to generate idea and design device to solve Problem.
✓ Each group can draw other mechanical devices as long as the device consist of (5)
(MINIMUM) main components assembly together. However, any amount and size
of standard part as bolts, nuts, or washers will not be counted.
✓ Must added element additive manufacturing & IOT in design of product. At least
one (1) part printing using 3D printer.
