ANTICIPATE, MANAGE, AND OVERCOME

BUSINESS DISRUPTION

Executive Programme in
Leadership and Change Management
(Batch 3)
9 Months | Blended | ₹2,21,300 + GST

A Times Of India Group Initiative

Introduction

“The illiterates of the 21st century will not be those who

cannot read and write, but those who cannot learn,
unlearn, and relearn!”
- Alvin Toffler

Change is fundamental! Look at the history, and you’ll see only two types of
organisations – those that have innovated as a ‘habit’ to establish themselves as a
‘brand’ and have lived through the history, and others who have just become
‘history’. Hence, the ability to spot, make sense, and lead change becomes a
mission-critical competency for all leaders.

1
The compelling new world order keeps everybody in a constant
state of flux in every sphere of our lives.

Disruptive business models and innovations, driven by

2 knowledge as capital, unleash creative destruction all around to

power and drive change.

3 Hence, the ability to identify, internalise, and initiate change is

becoming an increasingly critical competency for all leaders.

4
Upskilling oneself as an aspiring leader of change, will
differentiate one in every context of change, irrespective of
whether one is a subject of change or an initiator of change.

5
The consequent investment of time, effort, and resources are
bound to yield manifold returns.
Manage Change or Be Managed by Change

Today’s leaders need the ability to address complex challenges and effectively lead
through change and disruption in new and innovative ways. Effective leadership is
essential to effect successful change. Change leadership is all about working
together to create a shared understanding of the change required to execute the
strategy, and how to best make it happen.

When leaders fail in fulfilling expectations, their teams become disillusioned,

confused and unmotivated, and eventually, the business suffers. Leaders must
manage change, or it will manage them, as declared in a book on Change
Management by Frank Voehl and H. James Harrington.

3 ‘C’s OF EFFECTIVE CHANGE LEADERSHIP

COLLABORATION

COMMUNICATION COMMITMENT
Change-capable Leadership

A good change management leader envisions change, embodies it, and propels it
forward. When leaders fulfil their change management role effectively, changes
are made efficiently and sustainably, meeting the expectations of all stakeholders.
Effective change leaders engage with everyone involved in the change,
understand how to combat change fatigue, and encourage embracing change.
Lastly, successful change leadership also requires resilience. Resilience helps
people handle change’s inherent pressure, uncertainty, and setbacks. Leaders
need to build their own reserves and guide others to face change in healthy and
sustainable ways.

10 TRAITS OF CHANGE-CAPABLE LEADERSHIP

Communication Forward-thinking

Ability to Decisiveness
Inspire Others

10 TRAITS OF
Positivity & Confidence
CHANGE-CAPABLE
Enthusiasm LEADERSHIP

Emotional
Intelligence & Integrity
Empathy

Self-improvement
Strategic Thinking

The critical role of leadership in change management cannot be emphasised enough.

By acquiring and developing change-capable leadership skills and competencies, one
can successfully navigate even the most disruptive change.
Programme Overview
While ‘change’ has been the most consistent element of an organisation,
research tells us that most change initiatives fail to achieve the desired
objectives. One primary reason for this failure is the lack of skills among
the managers involved in the change process. It’s passé that managers
were valued for their functional skills; they at best got you where you are
today. What is most likely to take you to the next level and help you to
grow is the ability to anticipate, strategise, and execute the phenomenon
called change. The Leadership and Change Management programme
attempts to sensitise you to see change as a daily occurrence (versus an
event) and will abreast you with leadership competencies which will keep
you abreast of leadership competencies to help you lead
transformational change in your organisational environment. Addressing
change is a symbiotic process, necessary for organisations as well as for
their leaders – to realise and embrace change in order to stay relevant.
EPLCM is precisely aimed to address this growing need.

Change Management will help you understand and appreciate the
nuances of ‘leadership’ and ‘managing organisational change’, by
particularly answering questions like:

3. Why organisational change holds greater relevance in today’s
work context?

• How could or should a planned intervention look like?
• Is it better done internally by its own members, or an external
consultant can be more effective?
4. How would I map the various stakeholders in a change process
and what are the roles and responsibilities of each set of
stakeholders?
5. What and how the resources are available to a leader to
prepare the organisation during the planning and
implementing of change interventions?
