Chapter 01
GSM Calculation:
GSM, or gram per square meter, is the formal designation. In typical experiments, this func-
tions as the gauge parameter for woven fabrics. GSM is calculated by increasing the sample's
weight in grams by 1000 and dividing the outcome by the sample's area in centimeters per
square. Loop length affects how knitted fabric is controlled because GSM is its main meas-
urement. An electronic scale and a GSM blade can both be used to measure GSM..[1]
Chapter 02
Objective:
1/To measure the weight of the fabric

Chapter 04
Working Procedure:
1/ A knitted cloth piece measuring 100 cm is first collected.
3/By analyzing each of the 10 examples, we determined their individual CPI and WPI, then
calculated their average CPI and WPI.
4/Using the Hatera Scale, we measured the thread length of 100 loops in millimeters, and us-
ing all of the measurements, we were able to determine the GSM or Areal Density.

Calculation:
Yarn Count,T = 19.91
Average CPI = 41
Course/Cm,C = 16
Average WPI = 31
Wales/Cm,W = 12.20
= (19.91x30.2x16x12.20) / 10 = 11737.024
Chapter 07
Conclusion:
I would like to thank our respected teacher for the important instructions. I am also grateful to
our lab assistants for their kind help. This experiment helps me to know about the weight of
fabric per unit area that is very important for textile testing. I think this will be very helpful in
my future life.
