Auxllary Relay
Auxllary Relay
A lockout relay (86) is a type of protective relay used in electrical power systems to
isolate a faulty circuit or equipment from the rest of the system.
The principle of operation of a DC supply relay is based on the detection of a loss of DC voltage or a
reduction in voltage below a specified threshold. When the DC voltage falls below the set threshold,
the DC supply relay receives a signal from the protective relay or other device and immediately trips
the associated circuit breaker or disconnect switch, isolating the affected equipment from the DC
supply.
The DC supply relay may also include features such as time delay or manual reset functions, which
can help prevent false trips and allow for easier troubleshooting and maintenance of the system.
DC supply relays are important for ensuring the reliable operation of critical equipment in electrical
power systems, as a loss of DC voltage can cause malfunction or damage to protective relays, control
circuits, and other equipment. By monitoring the DC voltage supply and isolating faulty equipment,
DC supply relays help to prevent power outages, equipment damage, and other hazards.
