Globalization - Globalization is the growing interconnectedness of world economies and societies.

It is best
understood as "the intensification of worldwide social relations that link distant localities in such a way that local
happenings are shaped by events occurring many miles away and vice versa."

Examples:

1. Social Globalization: Usage of social media and any other social media platforms.
2. Cultural Globalization: The participation of our country in different and numerous international talent shows,
international pageantry and even on reality TV shows.

This factor has affected multilingualism in a way that languages are being transferred between communities, cultures, and
economies at an increasing rate as a result of the interconnectedness brought about by globalization.

Transnational mobility of the population - Transnational mobility of the population, often referred to as simply
"global migration," refers to the international migration of people. It is a recently coined term used as an
alternative to international migration. The term reflects the growing tendency to consider migrants not as "mere"
migrants moving from one (home) country to another (host) country but also as agents contributing to
transnational networks that cross geographical boundaries and extend into other cultural, professional, and social
arenas. Languages are being transferred between communities, cultures, and economies at an increasing rate as a
result of the interconnectedness brought about by globalization.

Examples:

1. Numerous pinoy are working abroad or travelling away from their county in order for them to get a job.

2. A refugee who has been displaced from their home country and is now living in a new country frequently
retains emotional ties to their home country. Take note that these refugees are forced migrants, which means they
did not choose to leave their homes.

This factor has affected multilingualism in a way that transnational mobility of the population may result in the
retention of prior languages or the expansion of linguistic repertoires by learning new languages or dialects of
languages already known.

Spread of The New Technology - The spread of he new technology means the process by which a new
technology is communicated and becomes known or used.

Examples:

1. The AI Robot or the robot that possessed an artificial intelligence

2. The new and exceptional technology trend called virtual reality (VR)

This factor has affected multilingualism because with the advent of technology, the spread of new technology affect the way
people communicate with one another because language is a tool that aid in the process of communication. Learning new
language could mean a better job opportunity, more friends and maybe even a better salary.
