Gender and academic achievement

Gender and academic achievement is an important factor the can determine the
success or failure of students in the educational system. There is a long standing
debate about the impact of gender on academic achievement anf potential for
gender to influence educational outcomes.
Research has demonstrated that boys are typically outperforming girls in math and
science, while girls have traditionally been better at reading and writing. There is a
growing body of evidence that suggests that gender differences in academic
performance are result of socialization and the expectations of parents, teachers
and peers, rather than any inherent differences in skill or abilities.
