Criteria

Place unit in a contained box such that the solar panel of the test unit is 6 inches
below a light bulb(GE 32 Watt EQ LED grow light Model 93101232) that is installed in
the top of the box (see Figure 1). Turn on charging light bulb (GE 32 Watt EQ LED grow
light Model 93101232) and ensure that solar panel is centered underneath the bulb.
Let solar panel charge for 24 hours in charging box.

After 24 hours of charging, place test light (with supplied lens/cover/filter installed on
to product) into a sphere (Labsphere 1M integrating sphere with CDS1100
spectroradiometer with absorption correction or equivalent) and measure the
following photometric properties: total lumens (luminous flux), CRI and color
temperature. Test should be conducted per IES LM 79-2008 section 9.1.

Calculate the lumens as a percent of the product claim using the following equation:

Lumens as Percent of Claim = LMeasured/LClaimed x 100

LMeasured = Lumens measured from IES test method
LClaimed = Lumens claimed from product information

Calculate the color temperature as a percent of the product claim using the following
equation:

CCT as Percent of Claim = CCTMeasured/CCTClaimed x 100

CCTMeasured = Color temperature measured from IES test method
CCTClaimed = Color temperature claimed from product information
equation:

CCT as Percent of Claim = CCTMeasured/CCTClaimed x 100

CCTMeasured = Color temperature measured from IES test method
CCTClaimed = Color temperature claimed from product information

Place unit in a contained box such that the solar panel of the test unit is 6 inches
below a light bulb (GE 32 Watt EQ LED grow light Model 93101232) that is installed in
the top of the box (see Figure 1). Using data logging equipment, wire into the
sample’s battery such that current and amp draw can be measured at an interval of 1
minute. Turn on charging light bulb (GE 32 Watt EQ LED grow light Model 93101232)
and ensure that solar panel is centered underneath the bulb and begin recording
current/voltage and elapsed time. When the data log shows the battery no longer
pulling any current or amps, test is complete and time to charge is recorded

Charge test sample per ‘Charging Time’ test method (2.0) prior to testing. In a
separate contained box, install test sample with a Luxmeter data logger. Position
Luxmeter such that it is 6 inches away from the brightest portion of the light
produced by the test sample (Figure 2). Set the Luxmeter data logger to record
lumens every one minute of test time. Record the average lumens for the first five
minutes of the test and set this as the initial lumen output of the test. Run light for 8
hours while recording lumens, voltage and amps.
Test sample product to IPX 5 per IEC 60529. Determine product functionality after
each level of IPX rating to level 5.

The test samples are dropped from a height of 9 feet onto a concrete surface.
Following this drop the sample shall be checked for visible damage and loss of
functionality.

Test coated area of the sample per ASTM D3359 Method A. Rate any resultant loss of
coating or coating adhesion per the ASTM method
Install test sample such that it is in between two flat surfaces per Figure 4 (maple
block ½ inches thick or similar). If products have landscape stakes, remove stakes
prior to testing. Apply a 75 lb compressive load through the vertical axis of the
product and hold load for one minute. After test, remove sample and evaluate
functionality and visual damage.
