1.0 Equipment General Data and Information

Substation
Bay/Panel
Equipment Serial No
2.0 Visual Inspection

Item Description Done Remarks

1. General Visual Inspection as per WI-NG-6460-002-056
The CT primary Injection, CT loop test and Single earthing
2. point checked activities should be completed before start
TEE Protection differential stability & sensitivity test.
Check that the acceptance test and final setting for this
3. relay have already been completed with satisfactory
results.
4. Check that all CTs have the same ratio & Knee point.

3.0 Electrical Tests

Item Description Done Remarks

Caution: Check that all safety precautions from electric
1. hazard was taken as surrounding the testing area by
caution tap, … etc.
Caution: Check that any high impedance protection relay
2. not related to the test is shorted before primary injection on
their CT Cores.
Caution: Any CT cores not related to TEE protection
3.
should be shorted for safety.
4. Isolate TEE Differential Protection Trip for all sides.
5. Sensitivity test shall be tested before stability test.
6. Loop1 between CT1 and CT2
Sensitivity For phase R
 Reverse the polarity of CT1 or CT2 by reversing its
secondary wire.
 The clamp direction of test kit shall be used
carefully to be the same for two compared sides
(i.e. towards relay or towards CT)

 For high impedance differential protection Measure

and record the voltage across the relay terminals,
series resistor, shunt resistor and CT supervision
relay.
 Measure and record current and angle for
secondary circuits at the start and end of differential
protection loop.
 For high impedance differential protection Read and
record the relay current (for low impedance
differential relay measure and record operating and
restrain currents and phase angles).
 Check the value of the measured voltage across
relay terminals compared with current reading in the
relay and compare with the calculated voltages as
per design.
 The differential current shall be the summation of
both sides current and the angle between them is in
phase.
 If the differential current is high enough, check the
relay indication for pickup and trip.
 At the end of sensitivity normalize terminals for all
secondary current circuits.
7. Loop1 between CT1 and CT2
Stability For phase R
 Be sure that the secondary circuits connections in
normal operation.
 Measure and record primary current for two sides
related the testing.
 The clamp direction of test kilt shall be used
carefully to be the same for two compared sides
(i.e. towards relay or towards CT)
 For high impedance differential protection; Measure
and record the voltage across the relay terminals,
series resistor, shunt resistor and CT supervision
relay. All shall be zero.
 Measure and record current and angle for
secondary circuits at the start and end of differential
protection loop.
 For high impedance differential protection; Read
and record the relay current (for low impedance
differential relay; measure and record operating and
restrain currents and phase angles).

 The differential current shall be zero and the angle

between two sides current shall be out of phase.
Repeat all steps in item No. 6 and 7 for testing sensitivity
8.
and stability for each phase Y and B respectively.
