Olympic Diving
The scoring system is slightly different for the individual and synchronized events. Individual
events are scored by a panel of seven judges who recommend a score between 0 to
10 (excellent). The top two scores and the bottom two scores are discarded; the remaining
three scores are added together and multiplied by the dive’s difficulty rating, known as the
degree of difficulty. Diving was first introduced in the official program of the Summer Olympic
Games at the 1904 Games of St. Louis and has been an Olympic sport since.

Both competitive platform and springboard diving involve one or two divers performing

spins, twists, and somersaults into a pool from a series of heights. The heights of the boards
range from 1m all the way up to 10m.

10m Diving Board

Dimensions: The platform used by men and women at the Olympics is a flat, rigid, non-slip
surface elevated 10 meters (roughly 32 feet, 9 1/2 inches) above the water. The height is
comparable to that of a three-story building. The platform is at least 20 feet long and 6 1/2 feet
wide

A tower is a diving platform structure that can hold as many as five levels of the board: 1m,
3m, 5m, 7.5m, and 10m. Competitions are only held on the 5m, 7.5m, and 10m platforms. The
1m and 3m platforms are used for training and practice.

My pool which I talk about in articles that I’ve written here at MyWaterEarth&Sky is an old
Sylvan cement pool 38 ft long x 20 ft wide and 12 ft deep at the deep end under the diving
board and 4 ft at the steps and shallow end. Because we had mostly children swimming in the
pool for many years we decided to remove the Diving Board purely for safety reasons and saved
some homeowners insurance.

MATERIAL USED

 Manufactured from an aircraft aluminum alloy single-piece extrusion that

provides both strength and durability for both indoor and outdoor pools with
diving facilities.
 This diving board works best when installed on a Duraflex Diving Stand or
Duraflex Short Stand.
 Features a machine taper from tip to fulcrum and fulcrum to anchor. This
attribute provides greater flexibility and thus greater spring for the springboard
diver.
 The Maxiflex Model “B” springboard has 189 perforations (aka “Cheese
Holes”) at the tip end of the board allowing for less air resistance and better
footing.
 The diving board comes complete with eight (8) 30 inch Rubber Channels
(Item MP112) attached to the underside of the diving board as well as a
calibrated number strip used to determine fulcrum setting.
 When you purchase this diving board from Springboards and More, we include
a set of two (2) Stainless Steel Carriage Bolts, Washers, Nuts and Loc-Tite
Threadlocker with every diving board purchase — a $41.21 value!
 The rubber channels on a 16-foot Maxiflex or Cheeseboard, are 5.5-inches
farther away from the (water) end of the board than on a 16-foot Duraflex
Board. As such, the installation footprint for a diving stand that is correctly
installed for a 16-foot Duraflex is 5.5-inches different than the installation
footprint for a diving stand that holds a 16-foot Maxiflex. In a nutshell — if
your stand is currently installed for a 16-foot Maxiflex and you want to install a
16-foot Duraflex on it — you need to either move the Main Support
FORWARD 5.5-inches OR move the ladder assembly BACWARDS 5.5-inches
and re-install it.
 Dimensions: 16 feet x 19 5/8 inches x 1 5/8 inch.
 All diving boards ship via ground freight F.O.B Reno, NV.
 This Duraflex Diving Board has a shipping weight of 185 lbs.

BOXING GYM
Boxing ring dimension
The ring and canvas size zzxxz

For all AIBA Competitions, the ring is 6.10m square inside the line of the ropes. The
size of the apron extends 85cm outside the line of the ropes on each side, including
additional canvas necessary to tighten and secure it. The height of the ring is 100cm
from the ground.

Platform and corner pads

The platform is 7.80m squared, level and free from any obstructing projection. It is
fitted with four corner posts with 4 corner pads to prevent injury to the boxers.
Corner pads are arranged as follows:

In the near left side corner – red.

In the far left side corner – white.
In the far right side corner – blue.
In the near right side corner – white.
Surface of the ring floor
The floor is covered with felt, rubber or other suitably approved material that is soft in
quality and elasticity. It is not be less than 1.5cm and no more than 2.0cm thick. The
canvas is made of non-slip material and covers the entire platform. The canvas is
coloured Pantone blue 299.

Ropes

The ring includes four separate ropes, 4cm thick, on each side of the corner posts.

The heights of the 4 ropes are 40cm, 70cm, 100cm and 130cm from the canvas. The
ropes are covered by a thick padding.
The ropes are joined on each side of the ring, at equal intervals, by two pieces of
material 3-4cm wide.

These two pieces are similar in texture to the canvas and must not slide along the
rope.
The tension of each section of the top two ropes is tight and the bottom two sections
is  not too tight.

Steps
There are three sets of steps to the ring, two sets at opposite corners for the use of
boxers and support staff and one set of steps in another corner for the use of the
referee and ringside physician.

Aerobic Gymnastics requires the ability to perform continuous complex and high
intensity movement patterns to music, which originates from traditional aerobic.
Aerobic gymnasts can compete in following classes:

 Individual Men’s, Individual Women’s, Mixed Pairs, Trio, Group (of 5

gymnasts)
 Aerobic Step (8 gymnasts)
 Aerobic Dance (8 gymnasts)

The performance area for single events is  7m x 7m and the performance area for duo,
trio and groups is 10m x 10m. The competition area is surrounded by a black
delimitation strip.

The border is horizontal, even and at the same height as the performance area. It is
100cm in area. The safety zone is also 100cm.

Trampoline gymnastics
Trampoline gymnastics has three apparatus:

 Individual trampoline (TRP) and synchronised trampoline (SYN)

 Double-mini trampoline (DMT)
 Tumbling (TUM)
