School and Business Partnerships

I would like to learn more about business partnerships with school. Having a background
in business and education makes me want to learn both sides. How do partnerships help with
education? What does it look like? I want to explore the many sides of education outside the
classroom. Once I left the classroom to work in the office, I was intrigued by the many people
who contribute to schools and students’ education.

What types of needs do students have that a business would benefit from partnering with
schools? Is it just for tax write offs or do businesses genuinely care about the students? I’ve read
so far that some partnerships are short term, limited in scope, informal and have minimal shared
decision making among partners (Barza, 2013). I would like to learn the types of contributions
that are made to different schools. I want to research the reasons why some companies feel they
have a social responsibility to give back to students and communities.

I want to find out the needs of certain schools in different communities and the part that
partnerships play in some low income communities. Do these partnerships make way for
students to get the tools needed to be successful? Are these partnerships helping students’
educational experiences?

I think the support of partnerships can help many schools and students thrive with each
school year. When teachers don’t always have to come out of their pockets to supply students
with the tools the need. They used to say that “It takes a village to raise a child” and I feel that
this statement still holds true today. I think it is important to give back, especially to students.
They are our future leaders.

A partnership that can help students reach their goals is a good thing. More businesses
need to contribute to students and their education. Giving time and financial help is a great way
to give back to education. I believe that education is so important and having the tools needed to
be successful is a good start to better education in schools.
