The successful accomplishment of this project work is the outcome of the contribution of
number of people, especially those who have given the time and effort to share their thoughts
and suggestions to improve the report. We would like to express our appreciation to our
Lecturer Mr. L A P K Rodrigo of School of Accounting and Business, the Institute of
Chartered Accountants of Sri Lanka for providing us all the guidance and support that we
needed mostly. This was really a good way of learning and we really appreciate his efforts
towards giving us proper line directions. We would like to thank the Human Resource
Manager of DMS Technologies Private Limited& Mrs. K Karunathilaka for rendering their
valuable time and providing us with information that was very much needed in order to
successful completion of this report.

Abstracts
Recruitment and selection, as a human resource management function, is one of the activities
that impact most critically on the performance of an organization in terms of achieving its
ultimate goal. The purpose of this study is to identify employee recruitment and selection
process in DMS Technologies Private Limited. The study focused particularly on identifying
existing recruitment and selection methods adopted by DMS Technologies Private Limited,
identifying challenges encountered and making some conclusion and recommendations based
on our findings. The study also reviewed literature on recruitment and selection. The findings
of the study revealed that best methods of recruitment and selection in the DMS Technologies
Private Limited are Internal Job Posting (internal recruitment), employee referrals, Job
Portals/Carrier websites, Advertising and head hunting. Internal Job Posting, Employee
Referrals, newspaper advert, Job Portals and head hunting are five main recruitment and
selection methods used by DMS Technologies Private Limited. A number of challengers
were identified as drawbacks in recruitment and selection which includes; Difficulty to find
candidates with degrees, Difficult to find CVs for some Job positions, higher human
resources cost may arise as a result of time spent in recruiting poor performing employees. It
is recommended that to have the written exams unfairly and to provide a good training for
new recruiters after recruitment.
