great implications on business and are the foundations of the
principles of the business ethics.

I realized that since ethics is universal and the same for all,
companies should obey the same ethical rules wherever they
operate.

What I Know

Activity 1
Has Mr. A done anything wrong? Discuss your answer.

Mr. A should first address this in my view, or tell his manager before
he edits the time stamp, since it remains to be clear in every movement you
take in the business, even though he does have the right to do these things.

Activity 2

As boss, I'll talk to Ms. C about such rumors and ask if she can allow
me to make an investigation to clean up her reputation and find the guilty person
who began these rumors. As we are all aware, rumors such as this will distract
all staff and cause the victim considerable harm. I would not let the gossip
decide in my name and I would certainly choose to support the right candidate
without prejudice.

Yes. As a Christian nation, Filipinos always uphold values that are based on what
the teaching of the church. Those values are our religious adherence, family solidarity,

3. What Filipino values does your family have?

The values that we practice in our family are:

A. Our religious adherence. We always put God as the center of our lives.

in our home.
C. Respectful. We have this gesture of respect to our elders called "mano". It is the

These values helped are very instrumental in fighting against the COVID19

What I Can Do?

Activity 4. It’s Your Turn

One of the business practices in the Philippines entails valuing

customer relationships because of "suki system" which is a distinct Filipino
value system - rooted primarily in personal alliance systems based on
commercial relationships. The business garners loyal customers from
supplier customer relationship and develops it into a regular basis through
providing quality products/services, sales, vouchers and reduced prices as
Filipinos stick and regularly buy from businesses that give them the said
provisions. As suki relationship takes time to build trust from customers and
consumers, businesses prioritize customer value and adapt to customer-
centric culture that provides focus and direction for the organization,
ensuring that exceptional value will be offered to customers as the key to
retention is customer satisfaction. Furthermore, organizations resort to
strategizing to please customers and meeting their expectations to retain them
through offering superb service, quality, image and especially, price at
reasonable costs and lessened prices as well as additional benefits to
continually loyal customers.

Additional Activity

After doing the activities:

I noticed that Filipino Time wasn’t included in the lesson
though it is widely incorporated in Filipinos’ habit until today
which must be strictly avoided in business activities.
A question I have is that is nepotism when known is
punishable by law since it does not abide with impartiality and
equality which are the must have major business values in an
organization?
I’m not sure about the amount of impact the colonization of
Spaniards, Americans and Japanese people made its way in
assimilating and influencing Filipino business practices.
I realized that both positive and negative Filipino system of
values are incorporated in business practices. Thus, it only
depends on the people who run it to strategize and balance
things out in order to achieve the success of the business.
