Split Flow Assembly Instructions
TOOL TYPE PBL Sub
TOOL SIZE 4-3/4” to 9-1/2”
EFFECTED COMPONENT Main body, Inserts & Darts

This TSB serves as a guideline to assemble the Split Flow Darts & Inserts.

Required Components;
• Split Flow Dart Nose • Split Flow Dart Cap
• Nozzled port Insert / Regular Autolock
• Shear Ring
Inserts – 2 Nos.
• Nozzle for Dart – 1 No. • Insert wrench – 1 No.
• Nozzle wrench – 1 No. • Nozzle for Insert
• Loctite 243 – As required. • Calibrated Torque wrench.

Nozzle Series

4-3/4" Series 70 #023 N/A for this size 3

6-3/4" Series 95 #124 Series 70

8-1/4" & 9-1/2" Series 100 #130 Series 95

Note:

1. Nozzle Sizes are determined based on Client’s split flow objective, BHA configuration and
downhole parameters captured prior to job on the Split Flow questionnaire.
2. Some configurations do not require Nozzled port inserts, instead a Regular PBL Autolock Port
Insert is used. Prior to each job, check & reconfirm with your respective contacts at DSI for
correct Nozzle configuration.
3. 4-3/4” Tool utilizes Bored Port Inserts (Part# 475SFD08) or Regular Autolock Port Inserts. Bored
Port Insert Orifice size is determined during hydraulics calculation.

ASSEMBLY OF SPLIT FLOW DART

Clean the threads of the Dart Nose; insert O-ring into the O-ring slot of
the Dart Nose and install appropriate Nozzle as shown in the above image

Clean threads on Dart Cap and apply Screw on Dart Cap on to Dart Nose.

Loctite 243 Grip the assembly in a bench vise &


tighten using a Pipe Wrench

Using a Flat File, remove any burs / wrench marks on the Dart Cap and Nose.
The Split Flow Dart is Ready.
ASSEMBLY OF NOZZLE ON PORT INSERTS

Clean threads of Main body Insert port & Nozzled Insert. Insert O-ring on
to the Nozzled Insert

Apply Loctite 243 on the Nozzled Insert threads & assemble on to the

Main body using a suitable T-Handle & socket.

Refer to Acceptance Criteria (Doc ID: DSI- Pick-up appropriate nozzle


GL-75-002) for torque limits (same as port
insert torque) & Torque the Nozzled insert

Apply Loctite 243 on the Nozzle Install Nozzle into the Nozzled Insert
housing threads using the Nozzle installation wrench

Tighten nozzle using suitable socket Ensure that the Nozzles does not
protrude above the insert/ port
