Assignment 2

The ultimate purpose of HRM is to ensure effective and efficient utilization of human resources
to achieve organizational objectives. However, usually, there is a gap between theory and
practice (how appropriately organizations utilize this important resource). Please consider the
HRM system of your organization (or any other organization that you may have access to it) and
compare the actual practice against the theory and subsequently, discuss the practices and gap
you have observed in this regard and give your own suggestion for future improvement. Please
focus on the following HR functions for your respective groups.

1. Group I: Acquisition (HR Planning, Job analysis, Recruitment, Selection,


Orientation and Placement.
2. Group II: Human Resource development (HRD system, Career planning and
development, Training and development & Organization development)
3. Group III: Performance and compensation (Performance management,
Compensation management & Incentives and benefits)
4. Group IV: Motivation and maintenance ( Creating motivating environment,
Empowerment and participation and Safety and health management)
5. Group V: Industrial relations (IR system, Discipline and grievance
handling/management Industrial conflict/disputes management)

I. You can use your former group/new group to do the assignment


II. Since organizations may not be willing to give their HR strategies, I advise you to focus
on your organization.
