1. The pandemic has dramatically changed almost every aspects of our lives.

As
Filipinos who enjoy surrounding ourselves with families and friends in the pettiest
of celebrations, I do agree that both physical distancing and social proximity are
equally important in thriving through this crisis. Gestalt psychologists explain that
proximity improves observation and perception skills. This is important because
our perception largely influences how we behave. Maintaining adequate physical
distance as prescribed by experts will allow social interaction with a lesser
probability of contacting the virus and jeopardizing one’s health.

2. The fear of missing out is very common among people across all age groups.
The phenomenon was a manifestation of how herd mentality is capable of
governing our thought and decision making and mostly we, Filipinos, are
susceptible with this kind of mentality given our cultural and social background.
By its nature, herd mentality is difficult to spot in the moment. After all, a
snowflake doesn’t realize that it’s a part of the avalanche. Same goes for you
when you’re swept up by market trends.
