URBAN GEOGRAPHY
1. Do you believe that ecological modernization can deliver global sustainable urban
development? Explain your answer.
-Previously, only a few individuals, such as conservationists and ecologists, were
concerned about the condition of the environment; today, it is both people,
organizations, and agencies. Organisms in the world stay intact because humans do not
intervene. However, when a bond is destroyed, everything suffers and the world is
jeopardized, and as a consequence, rather than being beneficial to anyone, it
encourages individuals to be harmful to their fellow humans. In answering this question, I
believe, is that ecological modernization can deliver global sustainable urban
development. It is very evident in this setting, particularly more on the ecological
sanctuary where people and the surroundings have interconnected to each other, such
as stewards of nature who treats with care. Both peoples, communities, and nations'
everyday lives are interconnected in terms of demographic change, the degree of usage
of natural resources, the status of the environment, the nature of economy, and the rate
of social progress. Just to maintain the ecological equilibrium closely towards urban
development can be considered, i.e., the sustenance of natural resources, must be in a
wise manner. Conservation of energy is one, when we use technology, however, in
order to benefit from it, it must be used correctly and responsibly.

2. What are the main reasons for having social inequality and social environment issues in
the urban cities. Explain.

- Environmental pollution is responsible for rapid population growth. The world's

forests are increasingly depleting, contributing to climate change, soil erosion, and
flooding. The annihilation of different ways of life in their natural environments is a
significant contributor to environmental destruction. It is very evident, moreover, that
humans are also damaging forest habitat, draining swamps, and reclaiming marine
land.
- The concentration of economic and human resources in one area encourages
the development and innovation of commerce, science, and technology, and
industry, and people in cities have greater access to education, health care, social
services, and cultural practices than people in villages, and city progress is built
through related services such as connectivity and transportation. There is a breaking
down of boundaries through inter-cultural gaps for society due to the impact of
urbanization.
- Furthermore, high population growth is unmistakably related to poor health.
This is particularly noticeable in polluted cities with large populations, where housing
conditions are in direct conflict with the desire for clean and sustainable living.
Worse, congestion and overcrowding are side effects of urbanization that have
affected people's hygiene. Although there is a physical need, modern-day city
dwellers' well-being is often jeopardized. Poverty also means that the vulnerable
cannot afford to purchase the food they need, either way, the vulnerable people'
welfare suffers.
- The world has evolved as a result of technological advancements. While there
is more order and stability, it is this that is destroying the world. New technology, on
the other hand, can be used to restore degraded ecosystems.
- Poverty has worsened as a result of widespread poverty, low worker
productivity, and slow industrialization. Because of widespread poverty, which
reduces demand for goods, cheap labor stifles economic progress and delays
industrialization.
