Frequently Asked Questions Frequently Asked Questions Why do I need to register?

An importer/exporter should first be registered to avail of the easy on-line processing of permits/license or clearance certificates to support and import/export declaration.

HowwillI know if I have been pre-registered?

Importers and/or exporters who are registered with E2m before April 1, 2010 have been pre-registered with NSW. To check: Click the Register tab; fill out the log in details with your TIN (username) and CCN (default password) and the other required information. If you have been successfully pre-registered to the system, these information should let you get to the next page.

How does this process benefit me as an importer/exporter?

As an importer/exporter, you can do multiple transactions with 40 Government Agencies through a single internet window.

Are there restrictions in the registration process?


Yes. An importer/exporter who is registering MUST have a valid email address for notification purposes. TIN must be provided and can only be registered once.

When do I receive an email notification?

You will receive an email notification during these instances:

1. After completing the registration process 2. After choosing the change passwordlink to change your password 3. After successfully changing your password 4. After clicking the Submit button on the Forgot Password? page 5. Once your application has been tagged as Passed Receive stage

6. Once your application has tagged as due for Payment 7. Once your application has been tagged as Passed Payment stage 8. Onceyour application has been tagged as Passed Proccess stage 9. Yes.

Why cant I view my application form?

In order to view an application form you need to have at least acrobat reader 7.0 installed on your computer.

Why cant I print my application form?

This could be due to an unistalled or turned off printer, check printer settings. if multiple printers are installed make sure printer being selected is online.

What are the consequences if I dont register online?

You wont be able to use the NSW features such as: do multiple applications, check the status of submitted application forms, etc.

Can I change my password anytime? If yes, how?

Yes. Go to My Profile link on the Dashboard page and click the change password link found below the logout tab. Key in your Old password, then provide the system with your new password. Confirm by typing your new password again, then click on the Update button.

Can I update multiple applications and submit them at a later date?

Yes. All filled-out application forms will be automatically saved for future updates or submission. Please refer to the HELP topic How do i save my unsubmitted application form/s?

The system keeps on prompting a message that says, TIN must be unique or Email has already been taken.

This means that the user is already pre-registered to the NSW system. From the homepage, click on Login. A pre-registered user will have the following default login information:

Username: 12-digit TIN (no dashes) Password: CCN or Customs Client Number

What is a Company Number?

Company number is the users company registration number. This could be one of the following:

DTI (Department of Trade and Industry) CDA (Cooperative Development Authority) Iftheuserhasthenumberforallofthe abovementioned agencies and is wondering what number to input in the field, SEC would be the preferred number to use. The system is prompting, Couldnt log you in as (username).

This means that the users login name OR password is incorrect.

Referto the following default information: Pre-registered Importer Username: 12-digit TIN (no dashes)

Password: CCN or Customs Client Number New Registrant

Username: What has been provided during the registration process Password: What has been provided during the registration process

Iftheuserisuncertainofthe password, click on Forgot Password at the bottom of the login fields.

After successfully logging in, I still cant change my password. Im getting a prompt that says, User email must look like an email.

This means you need to update your profile first and change your email address. On the left side of the same page, click on My Profile under Member Options. Click on the Update My Profile link that can be seen above the page Update the email address field and all the other fields that needs to be updated Click on Submit After a successful submission, the user should then be able to change the password

Where do I find the Barcode?

A unique barcode will automatically be attached to the online application form that a user has successfully submitted to the agency. The barcode can be viewed by clicking on the PDF form of the application form. This will appear at the bottom of the application form page.

If I already have a license to operate, do I still need to apply for a permit to import?

Yes. A license to operate is not the same as a permit to import.

User was not able to receive any email notification.

This could mean that the email address which the user is trying to access the NSW email from is not the same email address that has been provided during the registration process.

During the registration process, I keep getting a prompt that says, We need the correct answer to make sure youre not a bot.

This means that the answer that has been provided for the security question is incorrect.

During the application process, I keep getting a prompt that says, Telephone number is required.

This means that your profile has to be updated with a telephone number. Go back to the Dashboard page On the left side of the page, click on My Profile under Member Options. Click on the Update My Profile link that can be seen above the page Update the telephone number field and all the other fields that needs to be updated Click on Submit After a successful submission, the user can go back to filling out the application form

For new registrants: How can I register if I do not have a CCN?

CCN or Customs Client Number is not a mandatory field in the registration form. Users can still register even if a CCN is not available.
