5th LAC SESSION Minutes


Date: January 28, 2022

Venue: Grade-9 Sampaguita Classroom

According to Nat Turner, “Good communication is the bridge between confusion


and clarity. To addres the confusion among teachers, parents and learners a LAC Session
was conducted to discuss about this topic.
Last January 28, 2022 the MAKABAYAN Group conducted the 5 th LAC Session. The
session was facilitated by Mrs. La Arnie B. Hiedrick an Araling Panlipunan and ESP
Teacher. It started with a prayer, nationalistic song and energizer played thru multimedia.
Then, House Rules and checking of attendance followed. After all the preliminaries, the
facilitator started the session. She presented to the participants the objectives of the
session for us to be guided.
For the activity, the participants were tasked to present a short role play based on
the given situation. The participants played the roles of the teacher, learner and parents.
They presented the possible actions that will be taken by the teacher to address the
scenario given. Both groups were very participative and clearly presented the possible
approaches on the given situation. After the role play, the facilitator further discussed the
importance of communication especially on the modular distance learning modality.
Teachers also shared their experiences and their techniques in encouraging parent
involvement especially on students showing difficulty of learning in any form. The
facilitator together with the participants also discussed the benefits of Parent-Teacher
communication to parents and its impact to the learners. It is emphasized in the session
that through effective parent-teacher communication we can establish a relationship of
respect, discover learners needs to help improve academic performance. Communication
strategies was also suggested like the use of text messaging, e-mails and group chats.
For the making of the output the participants were tasked to submit documentation
on any kind of comminication strategy to parents or guardians. Finally , the participants
were given time to reflect on Parent-Teacher communication practices through a
statement.
Insights and realizations were shared by the participants. Ms. Omaῆ a, Ms. Juguilon, Mrs.
Base and Ms. Tingcang to name a few insight sharers. The session ended full of learning!
