FIELD WORK No. 1

Location of PC and PT
Using theodolite

EQUIPMENT NEEDED: SURVEY TEAM:

1 - set of theodolite Instrument men
1 – measuring tape Front & Rear tape men
1 – set of marking pins
OBJECTIVE: To locate the stationing of PC and PT of a simple curve using theodolite
PROCEDURES:
1. Before the conduct of the field work, the stationing of PC & PT must be computed.
2. Set and level the instrument at the station which is inline with PC & PI.
3. Set horizontal angle equal to the azimuth of Tocc. – PI, then lay a distance equal to the
distance from station occupied to PC. Mark the point (PC) with a hub.
4. Transfer the instrument to PI.
5. Set and level the instrument at PI.
6. With the telescope in inverted position and with the horizontal angle equal to the azimuth
of Tocc – PI take a sight to Tocc.
7. Plunge the telescope to normal position, open horizontal motion and lay an azimuth equal
to the azimuth of PI – PT.
8. Lay a distance equal to the tangent distance.
