3 x Big Ideas or WHAT the writer wants us to think about. With HOW they get this across through
language choice and structure and WHY -what’s the overall message?

An examples could be:

WHAT: The writer wants us to think about how children become more independent as they grow up.
HOW: She helps the reader to understand this by describing how the girl on the bike becomes
‘smaller’ WHY: this word might help the reader to understand how children become more distant
from their parents as they grow.

Then you would need to write 2X further WHAT HOW WHY paragraphs
