Assessment Schedule
This course is assessed by 100% Coursework. There are 3 assignments. The details are below:

Assessment 1: Research and Oral Presentation (Group) 30%

Due Date: (presentation done during class hours)

(i)Prepare a PPT to explain one type of assessment tool which would be useful to a Special Educator
(from Unit 3).
(ii) The audience should leave with an understanding of how to use the tool in the classroom.
PPT should be 10-12 slides and a 15-minute presentation will be done in class.
(iii)A short written document on the assessment tool will be required for submission and should be
submitted with the PPT by Wed 2nd Nov, 2022 at 11:59 p.m

Assessment 2: Electronic Folder (Group and Individual) 50%

Due Date: Monday 1 May, 2023 at 11:59 p.m.

Develop an IEP/ IIP for a student with special learning need (SLN) based on Case vignette/report given, in
ONE academic area (Mathematics, Science; Social Studies, Language Arts; Reading; Spelling). This
should be done on the template given.
Develop a Unit Plan to address THE AREA COVERED IN THE IEP (based on any of the National
Standards Curricula being used in Jamaica). The Unit Plan should be done to accommodate four/five
sessions. A Lesson Plan should be written for each session.

Assessment 3: Online discussion forums/activities (Individual/Group) 20%

Due Date: See Course Delivery Schedule (ongoing)

Students are expected to actively participate in these discussions and activities and provide
meaningful input into the topic.
