Compound Personal Pronouns - are formed by adding self or selves to personal
pronoun.

SINGULAR PLURAL
FIRST PERSON I (myself) We (ourselves)
SECOND PERSON You (yourself) yourselves
THIRD PERSON He (himself) They (themselves)
She (herself)
It (itself)

Classification of compound personal pronoun


a. Intensive Pronoun – are used to give emphasis to the preceding noun or
pronoun.
Examples: 1. When Nature itself calls to us.
2. A pool in which we ourselves can swim.
b. Reflexive Pronoun - are used as an object referring to the same person or thing
as the subject.
Examples: 1. A man met a farmer walking down himself along the lane.
2. They just nibbled themselves lost.
Other kinds of Pronoun
1. Demonstrative Pronouns – point out persons, places, things, or events.
- This, these, that, and those are called demonstrative
pronouns.
Examples: a. “I want that cake,” the child pointed.
b. “And all these crisp and brown cookies,” he continued.
2. indefinite Pronouns – do not refer to any particular person, place, or thing. They can be
singular or plural.
