the appropriate platforms and tools for meeting demonstrate correct use of collaboration

communication.

What is the student learning goal(s) for this lesson idea? I can use Padlet to collaborate with my
teacher and other students in the classroom.

How do you plan to implement this lesson and integrate the technology? Check all that apply:

☐X Teacher-led: There is no student voice and choice in the activities. Students are guided by
teacher direction and expectations. Learning activities are assigned to the
student and mostly practice based.

☐ Student-Led: Students are given voice and choice in the activities. They may select the topic
of learning and/or determine the tool they will use to meet the learning goal. The
teacher facilitates the learning as the students direct their own learning processes.

☐ Problem-based and/or Publishable: Students are solving problems
and completing projects to demonstrate their learning. Additionally, the projects can be shared
outside of the classroom. (Note: This objective could be reached by displaying the project on the
school’s morning newscast, posting the project to the classroom blog, presenting it to another
class, or publishing via an outside source.)

Lesson idea implementation: The teacher will create the Padlet and the students will go through the
collaboration tool and write their responses below in the space provided. The students will be
engaged, because it is online and there are many different links embedded within Padlet. They will
focus on their learning goal by completing the attached items. I will access the student’s prior
knowledge by reviewing the corresponding kindergarten standard. My students learning will be
accessed by the short quiz embedded in the Padlet. The lesson is concluded by my student’s
responding to the final prompt and completing the extension activity.

Managing student learning: This lesson will cause a shift in the behavior of students where they
move from passive to active social learners by being able to interact and engage with the material.
This is not a lesson in which students will hear a lecture and take notes, they will get to take
control of their learning. I will use co-engagement to shift from passive to active learning.

Universal Design for Learning (UDL): This lesson focuses on the representation of learning. I chose
Padlet to demonstrate my standard. It is not passive learning, it is active. This also helps diversify
my lesson for those students who need help and more engagement while learning.
Reflective Practice: Yes, this is more engaging and active then a normal lecture lesson. There are
six different prompts in which my student will have to respond. They can respond to classmates or
to the teacher in case they need extra assistance. What I am looking forward to most when
implementing this lesson is to see my students PowerPoint presentation on how they would take
care if their own animal, because it shows that they can apply the knowledge they received from
my lesson.
