1) Complementation:
The complement of set A, A1 is a set composed of the elements of universal set U but
not elements of set A.

Given: U = { a ,b ,c , d ,e , f , g ,h , i }
A = { b ,e , g , i } ; Find A
A1= { a ,c , d , f , h }

2) Intersection:
The intersection of sets A and B, A∩B is a set composed of elements of both sets A and
B.

Given: U = { 1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8 , 9 }

B = { 1,2,3,4,5 , 6 }

3) Union:
The union of sets A and B, AUB is a set composed of elements that belong to set A or B
or both sets A and B.
