This course covers both the theories and practical applications of pumps and cooling towers in buildings.
Participants will be assisted in understanding the fundamental theories of water pumps, while important
requirements for proper installations will also be highlighted.

INTRODUCTION

This course covers both the theories and practical applications of pumps and cooling towers in buildings.
Participants will be assisted in understanding the fundamental theories of water pumps, while important
requirements for proper installations will also be highlighted.

In the application of the water pumps, different system configurations will be introduced. Emphasis will
also be made in energy saving regarding the design and operation of the pumps. This course will also

OUR CONSULTANT

IR. CHUA KENG SENG

Graduated with an Honest Degree in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Malaya in 1974,
he has since accumulated over 39 years of experience in the air conditioning and building services
industry.

Academically, he was part-time Lecturer with the Mechanical Faculty of University Malaya from 1976
to 1984 and also in Monash University in the year 2008 through 2012, lecturing on the subject of Air
Conditioning System Design for the Final Year Mechanical undergraduates. He was also invited to
be the External Examiner for the Final Year Mechanical students with the University Technology
Petronas, Perak for two consecutive years.

In his professional practice, he worked with Carrier Malaysia Sdn. Bhd. as Service Manager for 5 years
and then as Engineering Manager in the Marketing Department for another 4 years. Subsequently,
he started his own company in the design-and-built business in the Building Industries for over
twenty years.

Presently, he works as an in-house Consultant in two separate companies: one is an air conditioning
equipment distributor the other is a manufacturer of heat pumps for hot water systems.

One of his specialties is in the District Cooling Plants including Co-generation and Thermal Energy
Storage systems. He was contracted to be the in-house Technical Advisor to a Petronas subsidiary
company which was the Project Management Consultants for the Putra Jaya Precinct 2 District Cooling
Plant. This plant has a capacity capable of cooling a total of 30 multi-storey buildings.

In August 2013, he was invited to the Advisory Panel and conducted an Exclusive Workshop in the
design of Thermal Energy Storage System in the 2nd Asian Pacific District Cooling Conference held in
Singapore.

He also specialized in Energy Saving Systems and Green Technologies for buildings as well as the
industrial applications of air conditioning and refrigeration systems. He designed and built
environmental controlled systems and dehumidifying systems for food industries, pharmaceuticals,
electronic clean rooms hospital operating rooms and research centers.

Very frequently, he conducted Public Lectures and trainings to impart his knowledge and experience
for the advancement of the industry.
