Jose Pimentel “Jinggoy” Estrada

Senator Jose Pimentel “Jinggoy” Estrada is the eldest son of President Joseph Marcelo Ejercito Estrada
and Senator Luisa Pimentel-Ejercito Estrada. He was born on February 17, 1963 in Manila. He is a
politician, actor, and film producer. He is married to Maria Presentacion “Percy” Vitug-Ejercito in 1989.
They have four children named Janella Marie, Joseph Luis Manuel, Julian Emilio, and Julienne.

He finished primary and secondary education at Ateneo de Manila University. He graduated at


University of the Philippines where he earned a degree in A.B. Economics, studied at Lyceum University;
he took up Bachelor of Laws for 4 years while serving the Municipality of San Juan, Metro Manila as a
Vice Mayor. Laguna State Polytechnic University bestowed an honorary Doctorate in Humanities to
Senator Jinggoy in 2007. In 1992, at a young age of 29, he became the youngest elected local chief
executive of the Phil. As the mayor, he exceeded the people’s expectation of him during his three
consecutive terms. He improved the municipality by leading the constructions, renovations, repairs,
improvement, and replacement of roads and public establishments. Senator Jinggoy Estrada’s efficiency
in his position gave San Juan the reputation of being one of the most progressive and peaceful
municipality in the Philippines.

He was elected as a senator in 2004. He is the second most productive and prolific senator, introducing
at least 617 bills and resolutions, and passed at least 16 bills. On July 23, 2007, he was elected as the
Senate President Pro Tempore, which is the second highest-ranking official of the Senate of the
Philippines.
