 History of batminton
 Badminton or badminton is a racket sport played by two people (for singles) or two
pairs (for doubles) against each other. This sport developed in ancient Egypt about
2000 years ago. The British brought the game to Japan, the People's Republic of
China, and Siam (now Thailand) as they colonized Asia. The competitive sport of
badminton was created by British Army officers in Pune, India in the 19th
century. The sport got its present name in 1860 in a pamphlet by Isaac Spratt, a
British toy dealer, entitled "Badminton Battledore - a new game" ("Battledore
badminton - a new game"). The first draft rules were written by the Bath Badminton
Club in 1877.
 Badminton is becoming a popular sport in the world, especially in East and Southeast
Asia, which currently dominates the sport, and in Scandinavian countries.

 Place and tools used

 The badminton court is rectangular in shape and has the size as shown in the
picture. The lines are 40 mm thick and must be in contrast to the color of the
field. The surface of the field is recommended to be made of wood or a soft synthetic
material. A 1.55 m tall net is located in the middle of the field. The net must be dark in
color except for the lip of the net which has a thickness of 75 mm which must be
white. Rackets Traditionally rackets are made of wood. Then aluminum or other light
metal becomes the material of choice. Strings Perhaps one of the most noticed parts
in badminton is the strings. Different types of strings have different responsiveness
characteristics. Kok is a ball used in badminton, made of a series of goose feathers
arranged to form an open cone,

 How to play badminton

 Each player or pair takes opposite positions on both sides of the net
on the badminton court. The game begins with one of the players
serving. The object of the game is to hit a shuttle with a racket, over
the net into the opponent's territory, until the opponent cannot return
it. The playing area is different for singles and doubles, as shown in
the figure. If the shuttle falls outside the area, it is said to be "out".
Every time a player/pair cannot return the shuttle (because it is caught
in the net or out of the field) then the opponent will get points. The
game ends when one of the players/pairs has won a certain number of
points. certain. There are various basic stroke techniques in
badminton, namely:
 Servicing
 A service stroke is a hit with a racket to fly the shuttlecock into the opponent's court
diagonally and aims to start the game. Types of serve strokes, namely:
 Short serve
 Long serve
 Serving horizontally
 Whip serve punch
 lob punch
 A lob is a stroke in badminton which aims to fly the shuttlecock as high as possible
towards the back of the opponent's court line. The lob shot can be done in two ways,
namely:
 Overhead lob, which is a lob shot made from above the head by flying the
shuttlecock soaring backwards.
 Underhand lob, which is a lob shot from below by hitting the shuttlecock which is
under the body and thrown high back.
