Introduction: Begin by introducing the activity of painting as a way to express

ourselves creatively. Explain that just as we can use paint to create beautiful
and meaningful art, we can also use our lives to create beauty and meaning by
living according to God's will.

1. The power of creation (Genesis 1:1-2): Explain that in the beginning, God
created the heavens and the earth through the power of his word. Read
Genesis 1:1-2, "In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth.
Now the earth was formless and empty, darkness was over the surface
of the deep, and the Spirit of God was hovering over the waters." Talk
about how just as God created the world out of chaos, we can use paint
to create order and beauty out of chaos in our own lives.
2. The value of beauty (Psalm 27:4): Explain that beauty is important to
God and can inspire us to worship him. Read Psalm 27:4, "One thing I
ask from the Lord, this only do I seek: that I may dwell in the house of
the Lord all the days of my life, to gaze on the beauty of the Lord and to
seek him in his temple." Talk about how just as we can appreciate the
beauty of God's creation, we can also create beauty through our
paintings that can reflect his glory.
3. The importance of obedience (Exodus 35:30-35): Explain that in order to
create something beautiful, we need to follow the instructions and
guidance of the artist. Read Exodus 35:30-35, where God chose and
equipped Bezalel to lead the work of building the tabernacle, saying "I
have filled him with the Spirit of God, with wisdom, with understanding,
with knowledge and with all kinds of skills." Talk about how just as
Bezalel followed God's instructions to create something beautiful, we
can also follow God's will for our lives to create something beautiful.
4. The message of our paintings (Ephesians 2:10): Explain that our
paintings can also carry a message, just as the Bible carries a message of
hope and redemption. Read Ephesians 2:10, "For we are God's
handiwork, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God
prepared in advance for us to do." Talk about how just as we can use
our paintings to communicate a message of hope and redemption, we
can also live our lives as a testament to God's grace and love.
Conclusion: After the painting activity, have the students share their paintings
with each other and talk about the messages they are conveying. Encourage
them to think about how they can use their paintings to bring beauty and
meaning to the world, and to live their lives in accordance with God's will so
that they too can be a beautiful creation of his.
