Go-to-Market Strategy

A Go-to-Market Strategy is a strategy used by a company to build a plan on how to

successfully engage with their target customers and persuade them into buy their products and
gain a competitive control over the market.

The most important aspect in building a GTM strategy is by knowing your target
customers which includes your customers’ demographics, motivation, and interests. This is
where creating a customer persona will come handy to help you have a vision on who your
customers are. Another important thing to consider is to ask yourself: “What problem are you
solving for customers?”. To know this, your company will need data from potential consumers
and must have an easy and accessible potential customer/consumer feedback form that can be
easily answered without wasting money or time. Doing research by observing customer behavior
and conducting interviews can also greatly help you understand your target customers more.
Understanding your customer’s buying process and journey is also crucial for making a GTM
strategy. A company would like to understand how a potential customer would act when looking
for a solution for their problems that your company can provide. This can be achieved by looking
at a map for a customer’s buying journey. Knowing what your product can offer is also
important to understanding who your customers are. You must choose a strategy that emphasizes
between marketing or sales. But you must keep in mind that strategies can be modified and
improved, you need to learn to focus on greater priorities so that your company would not be
overwhelmed. Overall, you must engage with your customers because it is the most important
part to building a Go-to-Market Strategy.
