Daily Learning Plan in English 7 (Fourth Quarter)

I. OBJECTIVE:

At the end of the 60-minute class discussion, the Grade-7 learners should have made simple inferences
about thoughts and feelings expressed in the text listened to. (EN7LC-IV-f-2.8)

II. SUBJECT MATTER:


A. Topic: Making simple inferences
B. Subject Integration: Values Education
C. Reference/s: Curriculum guide in English 7 page 161 and www.google.com (for the information)
D. Materials: Visual, chalkboard and task cards
E. Value Focus: Cooperation

III. PROCEDURE
A. Activity
1. Preliminary Activity
* Prayer
* Greeting of the class
*Classroom cleanliness
*Checking of attendance
*Recapitulation of the previous lesson

2. Main Activity
* Present the game entitled “Inference Game”.
*Divide the class into two groups.
*Read aloud to the students a certain scenario:
It was Ronnie’s Graduation day. He had been waiting for his mother to come. He had been
waiting for his mother to come. He will be the next to come up on stage and yet he still can’t find
his mother.” So, what do you think is the feeling of Ronnie?
Inference: The boy will feel sad because his mother didn’t make it to his Graduation day.

B. Analysis
1. How did you find the activity?
2. What did you understand about the scenario?
3. How did you guess his feeling?

C. Abstraction
* Define what is Inference
* Discuss on how to make an Inference. Then give examples and explain.
*Explain certain ways to begin your Inference.
Generalization
Ask someone from the class to discuss what is Inference, how to make an Inference, and some of
the ways to begin your Inference.

D. Application
*Tell the students that they will have a role-play still with the same group. Assign the following
scenario:
Group 1: The boy came to school very late.The teacher was on the middle of discussion when he
arrived.
Group 2: The girl went to school. When she arrived at school, she’s not feeling well.
Rubric:
* Correct Inference - 10
* Delivery - 10
Total of: 20 points

IV. EVALUATION/ASSESSMENT:

Direction: In your 1/4, make an Inference of the following text or scenario.

1. Carlos could not believe that his bike had been stolen! He stomped his feet and screamed at
the top of his lungs when he found out.

2. The day had finally arrived! It was Josh’s 13th birthday today! He woke up before the sun
was out with a great big smile on his face.

V. ASSIGNMENT/AGREEMENT:

Read and understand.the “Parable of the rainbow colors” by Juan Flavier.
