BANNER

A. Definition
Banners are non-personal information media that contain promotional messages. Banners are
also interpreted as a promotional/publication medium that is printed using digital print with at
certain size and is portrait or vertical in shape.

B. History Of Banner
The word banner comes from the French word "bannière" and the Latin word bandum which
means the cloth from which flags are made.
Banners have been used for centuries by the Romans as their coat of arms on the outside of
their homes to allow people to identify their places. at that time it was common for Knights to
carry banners into battle for easy to identification. The use of banners in government dates
back to the early 1800s, when unions first started. The banners are used to illustrate the
workers' demands.

C. Functions and Purpose of Banner


Some of the banner purpose are as follows:
Information Media; Installing banners is a very effective way as a medium of information to the
public, both offline banners and banners on websites/blogs.
Promotion media; as well as information media, we also use banners effectively as promotional
media. However, of course the installation of banners must be in a strategic place and often
seen by the general public.
Identity/ Characteristics; Banners on a website/blog can function as an identity or
characteristic of the website so that visitors remember it more easily. Banners on websites can
also be a way of doing branding online.
Basically the function of banners is as a marketing medium that contains publications,
advertisements, promotions, and various other purposes. Meanwhile, the purpose of placing
banners is to promote or advertise something so that it attracts the attention of more people
when they see it.

suitable for use indoors or outdoors.

2.X Banners
This type of banner is in the shape of the letter X with two support poles. The support pole is
made of lightweight aluminum so it is easy to carry anywhere. X Banner can be used at events
or placed indoors. X Banner is not suitable to be placed outdoors because it is light in weight
and easily collapses when blown by the wind.

3. Roll Banners
Roll banner is a type of roll-shaped banner. This type of banner only needs to be pulled from
the top to the bottom so that it is visible as a whole.
