BRIEFLY ANSWER THE FOLLOWING:

1. Describe the background of Rizal’s ancestry that might have contributed to his life
and education.

- Because of the money in their family's business. Rizal has the opportunity to
study and to achieve his goal.

2. Compare the experiences of Rizal as a student in Ateneo Municipal, UST, and in


Madrid.

- In the past, studies were quick to learn or graduate, but in my experience, current
studies took longer to graduate or finish, including elementary school for 6 years,
high school for 4 years, senior high for 2 years, and college for 4 years. I believe
this is because Rizal is a genius, so he graduated quickly and had
multipotentiality.

3. Who were the important persons that influenced Rizal in his intellectual pursuits?
Explain

- Teodora Alonso, Rizal's mother, was the one who had the biggest impact on his
growth as a person. She was the one who first opened his eyes and heart to the
world around him, with all of its soul and poetry as well as its bigotry and
injustice.

4. What were Rizal’s activities in Dapitan and their impact? 

- Rizal establishes a clinic to operate on his mother's eye and studies local
medicine because the people of Dapitan are impoverished, Rizal establishes a
school with no tuition cost and holds his courses under the talisay tree, Rizal
assists with water system, business, and farming to boost their economy.

5. How would you assess Rizal’s objection to the revolution?


- Rizal was a hesitant revolutionary who believed that the Filipinos of his day were
unprepared for a revolution, just as they were unprepared for independence. As
a result, Rizal became a separatist, entrusting the accomplishment of
independence to God. He went back to the Philippines to discuss his family's
