ABROTANUM BABY

1. INTRODUCTION:

Abrotanum is prepared from the fresh leaves and stem of Artemesia Abrotanum (Compositae). It has a very potent role in marasmus arising due to

calorie deficiency and also from suddenly appearing CNS infections. Abrotanum is known to its TRUE METASTATIC condition and also has an exudative

tendency. It is suitable for newborn or children especially boys suffering from Hydrocoele, Epistaxis, Worm troubles.

2. SALIENT FEATURES:

● Suited to suddenly appearing spinal inflammation and to chronic myelitis”. Rheumatic subjects. Affections of newborn children, especially little

boys.

● EMACIATION :

● There is muscle wasting especially in Lower extremities, though sometimes it may ascend upwards.

● Abrotanum children have their neck flopping down easily. As they grow the poor muscle tone is an indication of this remedy.

● The child is flaccid with marasmus and has a voracious appetite.

● Abdomen is distended, Weak sinking feeling in the bowels.

● METASTASIS :

● This is a marked feature in Abrotanum. The changing of one so-called disease into another always calls attention to abrotanum.

● Inflammation of the parotid gland moves to testes or mammae.

● A sudden checked diarrhoea is followed by Haemorrhoids and Rheumatism.

● Metastasis of Rheumatism from joint to spine and spine to heart.

● Diarrhoea presents as LIENTERIC stools. And often alternates with constipation.

● Oozing of blood and moisture from the navel of a newborn.

● FURUNCLE :

● Indicated in inflammation of hair follicles of newborn.

● Tendency of falling out of hair.

● Eruptions on the face.

● TEMPERATURE :

● Hectic Fever with chilliness

● Great weakness after influenza.

3. MODALITIES:
Aggravation:

Ill effects of suddenly checked diarrhoea, thereby aggravating Rheumatism, Haemorrhoids, Epistaxis, General anxiety, depression, trembling.

Amelioration:

Rheumatism better by Motion.
