I. Objectives
At the end of the lesson, 85% of the pupils are expected to:
 Identify safety precautions during sunny days, rainy days, and windy days.
 Identify safety precautions before, during, and after a typhoon, \
 Tell the meaning of typhoon signals

Directions: Choose what is being asked in the statement below. Then answer the riddle by

1. What are the different weather conditions we have in the Philippines?
2. What activities do you love doing during a sunny day, a rainy day, and a windy day?
3. What activities do we need to avoid during a sunny day, a rainy day, and a windy day?
E. Lesson Proper
Safety precautions are action taken in advance to protect as against the possible danger, injury, or
illness. We need to know the kind of weather for the day to keep us safe.
1. Sunny Days
For example, people not following safety precautions during sunny days will likely have:

And for us to keep safe during sunny day what we must do?
(Drink 8 glasses of water a day, wearing light colored and thin clothes, since the weather is
fair you can stay outdoors until 12:00 noon when the sun is at its peak.)

2. Windy days?
Usually during windy when strong winds occur people are advised not to go for walk under the trees
and not to travel especially by sea or by air transportations.
What do you think are situation usually happened during windy days?
The teacher will show a picture and let them to describe?
(Unroof houses made from light materials like nipa or cogon may be partially or totally damaged by
strong winds)
3. Rainy Days
The third type of weather is Rainy Days. During this type of weather conditions what we must
remember when we go outside?
Let the students to answer while the teacher is writing their responses on the board.
(Wear boats boots and coats when going out. Unlike to sunny day, we can we wear thick, dark
colored and use blankets when it becomes too cold for you)
Do you think is it advisable for you to go outside?
Children like you should not play in the rain to avoid catching colds, flu, and diarrhea.
Did you know that yearly we have 19-20 storm in the Philippine Area of Responsibilities (PAR)
according to PAG_ASA?
That is why people living in low-lying areas are advised to seek higher grounds for shelter, like two
story building, and stay away from see coasts or river banks. Wading in dirty waters during rainy day
can be harmful as it can cause leptospirosis.
4. In case of stormy weather please stay indoors. How we prepare ourselves if you heard in news
that there will be a coming storm?
Before:
(Store enough food, and have survival kids ready with flashlights, candles, bottled water, and
other necessities in case there is a need to evacuate.
These are the safety precautions we can do before, during, and after a typhoon.
During:
Stay calm and alert, stay indoors and monitor the weather reports, if there is an announcement to
evacuate, please follow their advice.

After:
Check your house for any damages, don’t’ use electric outlets unless they are tested and safe
clean your houses if it has been flooded, boil your drinking water for your safety.

We cannot prevent natural phenomena like storms due to weather conditions but by being
prepare, updated, and alert at all times you can avoid the things that might harm you.
F. Application
