1. Concave mirror is used as dentist mirror. Why? Support your answer with a 2
suitable ray diagram.
2. An object of height 4cm is placed in front of a concave mirror of focal length 3
20cm. If a real image is produced at 25cm from the mirror, find the position of
object and size of the image formed. What will happen to the size of the
image if the object is shifted to 40cm from the mirror?
3. There are two types of spherical mirrors- concave and convex. The spherical 5(5x1)
mirror forms different types of images when the object is placed at different
locations. The size of the image formed by a spherical mirror depends on the
position of the object from the mirror and the relative size of image to object
is given by linear magnification. Mirror formula gives the relation connecting
distance of an object from the mirror(u), distance of image from the mirror(v)
and the focal length(f).
(i)The distance between the pole and focal point of a spherical mirror is equal
to the distance between
(a) pole and centre of curvature (b) focus and centre of curvature
(c) pole and object (d) object and image
(ii)The normal at any point on the mirror passes through
(a) focus (b) pole
(c) centre of curvature (d) any point
(iii)If the magnification produced by a mirror is -3, the characteristics of the
image will be
(a) real, inverted and magnified (b) real, inverted and diminished
(c) virtual, erect and magnified (d) virtual , erect and diminished
(iv)What is the position of image when an object is placed at a distance 30cm
from a convex mirror of radius of curvature 30cm?
(a)at the centre of curvature (b) at the focus
(c) at infinity (d) between pole and principal focus
(v)Which of the following diagram is correct for the ray of light incident on the
mirror as shown in figure.

about the colour changes in them?
a) A turns yellow while B turns pink.

b) A remains colourless while B turns pink

c) A turns red while B turns yellow.

d) A turns red while B turns pink

3. Glucose solution does not conduct electricity but sulphuric acid does. The 1
