LEAD PARTICIPANT SPOTLIGHT STORIES

HÉLІO
Global Head of Technology Business Partner, Vale
Without LEAD, Hélio said he likely wouldn’t be in his current role. Hélio used the frameworks and skills he
developed through LEAD to create the change and impact his organization needed. He also credits the program
with giving him the confidence to pursue higher purpose and broader impact. While in LEAD, he got promoted
to a new role at his organization as Head of Global IT Innovation; he also formed Match4Action.org, a social
enterprise and foundation focused on accelerating social impact globally, with six other LEAD participants.

“I really feel part of a strong and vivid Stanford community for continuous learning, collaboration, change, and
impact. The program gives you the necessary skills and confidence to face your challenges. The great network
and amazing content motivate you to keep up the journey after the program. I continue to find value in LEAD,
and have taken several additional courses, even after completing my certificate.”

JOLONE
Executive Director, UBS Zurich
Despite several years in middle management at various banks, Jolone felt that her career had stalled. Jolone
entered LEAD with the goal of breaking through her current challenges and embodying a role at the executive
level. She saw LEAD as the key to unlocking her executive potential by broadening the breadth of her existing
skillset and enhancing her visibility. Jolone landed a new job as the Executive Director, Relationship Manager
for UBS Switzerland AG. She credits much of her success to the LEAD program.

“What I found most fascinating, which I told a lot of people: can you believe that a virtual program doesn’t
feel like it’s virtual? That a virtual program is even, to me, more effective than any other face-to-face program
that I’ve done. You actually don’t get to feel that you are doing this long distance, and it’s amazing.”
