A. Introduction  Display a puzzled picture, photograph, or scene from a
(Day 1) book that includes one or more characters.

 Ask the students to make observations about the


picture. Ask if they’re familiar.
 Ask the learners to arrange the pictures accordingly.
 As needed, prompt the students with questions such as,
“What is the character doing?” “What do you think will
happen?” “Are you in favor of the ending”
 Explain that a character’s action could include
something the character says. It could also include a
character’s body language (if needed, show examples of
body language). Their actions are great contributors on
how we will react on the story.

PRE-READING
I. Unlocking of Difficulties

(all-year long/Year-round, vacation breaks, boring, summer)

*Explain each words and let them construct their own


sentences using the given words.
B. Development “POINT IT ON THE CALENDAR”
(Day 2 and Day 3) Show a calendar. Ask the pupils to name the months in a
year.
Ask: How many months are there in a year? What is the first
month month? How about the last one?
Say: All year lone or year- round means January to
December.

Using the calendar, let pupils mark the start and the end of
the school year.
Say: We sually go to school from June to March while from
April to May is our vacation break.

Let the pupils read the sentences.

“The movie we saw was boring. We did not have fun


wathcing it. We did not enjoy it.”

Ask: What is the underlined word?


What is the meaning of it?

Ask. What can you say about Summer? Write your answers
on the semantic web?

SUMMER

Activity 2:WHAT ARE YOU DOING?


Show the learners these pictures of children’s activities
during summer.

Ask: WHat activities do each of the children do?


When do they usually do such activities?
What other activitiesmay children do in the summer?
Reading activity.Refer to LM, Read and Learn 391.
Have the learners anwer the comprehension questions.

C. Engagement Reread te selection.


(Day 4) Review the learners’ answer on the comprehension check.
After reading the selection, ask the pupils if their answers/
reasons are the sameas thos in the text.

D. Assimilation “I am an Artist”
Day 5 Draw or paste a picture of you showing of what you did last
summer.

on what they have learned from the lesson using the following
prompts.
