PLTU ADIPALA 1 X 660 MW


BOILER ARRANGEMENT
The boiler adopts typical arrangement of B&W SWUP (Spiral Wound Universal
Pressure) supercritical once through boiler.
Vertical separator and water collecting tanks are located in front of boiler; the furnace is
2 composed of lower spiral membrane water wall and upper vertical membrane water wall.
The platen superheater is located at the furnace outlet; SSH inlet and SSH outlet banks
are arranged above the furnace arch. Reheater outlet banks are located in pendent
convection pass. The down pass is separated to two vertical sections by the division wall.
The reheater inlet and economizer are arranged in the front pass, primary superheater
1 and economizer are arranged in the rear pass. The gas biasing dampers are used to
control the reheater steam outlet temperature. There are two Ljungstrom trisector
regenerative air pre-heaters locating at left and right side each.

Feedwater enters the economizer inlet headers .The water passes upward through the
economizer and stringer tubes, and discharges through the outlet headers into water wall
inlet headers. Then water flows upward through spiral furnace, water wall intermediate
header, vertical furnace and water wall outlet headers into furnace outlet mix header, the
mixture flows into vertical separator.

When the boiler is operated below 30% load, the working fluid that enters vertical
separator is steam-water-mixture. The water separated by separator pass through water
collecting tank and circulating pump, and then return to economizer inlet headers. The
steam separated by separator pass through boiler roof, the convection pass enclosure
walls, primary superheater, platen superheater, SSH inlet and SSH outlet. Two stages of
spray attemperators are used to provide tight temperature control in all high temperature
sections.

transfer deterioration or the unstable hydrodynamic.

VERTICAL SEPARATORS

Steam separators
Separators are located between the water wall outlet header and roof inlet header and is used for affective vapour-water
separation during boiler start-up and shutdown or operation at low load conditions. Two vertical steam separators,
consisted of cylindrical body and spherical heads and are made of SA335P91 material, there are 3.4m in length with a
outside diameter of 947mm and an thickness of 96.5mm.

Water collecting tank


The tank is located below the separators and is used to collect drain water from separators. The tank consists of a
cylindrical body and spherical heads. The material is make of SA335P91, is 16.4m in length with an outside diameter of
1016mm and an thickness of 120mm.

COMBUSTION SYSTEM

q Six MPS mills (ZGM123G-Ⅱ) supply pulverized coal to the burners, with one mill out-of-service, five mills can meet the full
boiler load capability. One mill will feed pulverized coal flow to six burners on one row. 36 sets of DRB-XCL coal-fired burner
are supplied to one boiler in total, which are arranged in a three row by six column arrangement on both front and rear
furnace walls on the big windbox of front wall and rear wall.

q In order to improve the efficiency of combustion and reduce the NOx emission, the big annular windbox is adopted for this
boiler. Dimension of this windbox is 27.3m×17.2m×2.7m(height × width × depth). The air flow amount can be adjusted by
the windbox inlet damper. To get accurate flow amount, aerofoil type of air flow measuring device is mounted at the
upstream of each damper.
