 Introduction
This portfolio is 8 activities compilation of 8 activities.
Each activity is crafted after the CSEC Family and
Resource Management Syllabus and shows my process
over a period of 2 years. It shows evidence of critical
pieces of work that I would have completed. Additionally,
it includes a general reflection of the 2-year process as
well as an appendix of summative assessment done by
me.

Soft furnishing and accessories are used in the home to create a feeling
of warmth as well as a welcoming atmosphere.

(a)Define the terms “Soft Furnishings” and “Accessories”.

 Soft Furnishing- are fabrics used in the home (such as curtains or

rugs) that are made of cloth and used to decorate a room, house,
etc.

 Accessories- is a thing which can be added to something else in

order to make it more useful, versatile, or attractive.

The type of flat ware used during a dining experience is influenced by
the menu that is developed for that occasion.

(a)Define the terms:

 flats ware- are table utensils used to serve and eat food, such as
forks, spoons, butter knives and plates, all of which are fairly flat
in design.

 Dinnerware- is objects, especially plates and bowls of different

sizes, used for serving and eating food: Plates and other
dinnerware are presented in a beautiful cabinet.

 Menu Card- is a designed paper which contains all the food and
beverages sold in a restaurant and is place on each table for
people to make an order of what they want to eat or drink.

(b)Plan Menus for a “Heavy Breakfast” and a “Three Course Lunch”

Following the question outline for SBA #2 complete the following:

(a)Complete a detailed plan of work that aligns with the questions.

Plan of Work
Sweep area, pick up dust and dispose. Add water and detergents to a
basin and wipe all surfaces. Add water and detergent to the mop
bucket, mop area and leave to air dry.

Hang curtains on the windows along with the backdrop and birthday
banner. Inflate all the balloons and hang them. Spread the tablecloths
on the tables, then place each Centre piece on each table, add the flat
ware along with the confetti in the table and set all chairs to each table.
Place the cake on the table of the birthday person and arrange all
artificial flowers. Place the music box in the corner near the beverage
area.

Arrange the tables, then spread table cloth on them. Add all bar
materials on the tables. Display the mock-tail glasses along with some
of the beverages and add the rest to the cooler with ice.

Slice 2 thin round slices from each of the limes and set aside for
garnish, then squeeze the juice from the remaining limes into a
blender. Add the frozen watermelon to the blender, along with the
honey, chilled soda water and mint leaves. Blend until smooth, then
pour into a jug filled with ice cubes. Garnish with the reserved lime
slices and the mint springs, then set aside. Tidy area.

Start computer and launch Microsoft publisher. Select desired template

for invitation card and use the tools in the application and design
invitation card appropriately, then print.

Clear the area, hand the backdrop along with the birthday banner.
Hang all the balloons, add a stool in the center. Put all items prepared
on display.
