Review:
A. The Purpose of God' s Word.
1. To Reveal Who He is:
a. Through general revelation: Creation, Intuitive Spirit
b. Through special revelation- The Holy Word of God.
2. To Redeem mankind.
B. Who wrote the Bible?
1. Man was given this special revelation for over 1600
years, by 40 different men.
C. The procedure God gave us His Word is called inspiration
1. God breathed every word He wanted us to have.
III. The Preservation of God's Word. Matthew 24:35
A. Not only did God inspire the Bible, but He preserved it as well.
Jesus said, "Heaven and earth shall pass away, but my words shall
not pass away." Matthew24:35
David said, "The words of the LORD are pure words: as silver tried in a
furnace of earth purified seven times. Thou shalt keep them, O LORD; thou
shalt preserve them for this generation for ever." PS.12:6-7
God has perfectly preserved (given) His Word to use today. Psalm
138:2 says; "...for thou hast magnified thy word above all thy name."
If God can create the universe, He can preserve His Word.
What good would inspiration be without preservation?
A. God gave the words of Scripture by inspiration without error in the
original autographs. God promises that He will preserve His Word.
Jesus said, " ...but my words shall not pass away". We believe God
has kept that promise by preserving His infallible Word in the
traditional Hebrew and Greek manuscripts and that the Authorized
Version (KJV) is the best translation of the preserved Word of God
in the English language.
Knowing that God preserved His Word, we have it today. We can say we got
the Word of God. That gives us an authority and gives the Word of God an
integrity that is so important about every area of our belief and our doctrine.

believe in double inspiration, nor do we believe that the
Greek received Text should be corrected from an English version.
IV. The Power of God's Word Ps.19:7-11
"The Law of the Lord is perfect converting the soul..." PS.19:7
The Bible is an absolute authority that we can trust. It becomes our sure
foundation for all of our faith and practice.
2 Tim.3:16 says that God's Word (the Bible) is profitable for:
Doctrine- what is right
Reproof -what is wrong
Correct ion- How to get it right
Instruction in righteousness- how to keep it right.
God's Word is sufficient for every need you will ever have in your entire life.
It's God's Word that changes live.
That we might mature and be what we ought to be in Christ. The
Bible is sufficient for all our souls and spirits' needs.
" ...man shall not live by bread alone ...n Matt.4:4
"What does the Bible say?" is the basis to all we believe and do.
All the things that we think, all the decisions that we make should
be guided, directed and filtered through the Word of God.
It's like a filter on a pump. Everything in our life should go through the filter
of God's Word.
Joshua 1:8
"This book of the law shall not depart out of thy mouth; but thou
shalt meditate therein day and night, that thou mayest observe to
do according to all that is written therein: for then thou shalt
make thy way prosperous, and then thou shalt have good
success."
Key to success: any person that knows the Word and lives (obeys)
the Word will be found successful in their lives.
